About Child S.H.A.R.E.

Child SHARE (Shelter Homes: A Rescue Effort) was founded by Dr. Mary Rotzien in 1985 with seed funding and key leadership from Westwood Presbyterian Church. The program was a direct response to thousands of foster children, including infants and toddlers, languishing in institutional care in Los Angeles. Convinced that the faith community could provide – more... families for these children, Child SHARE began building a "wrap around" ministry with foster parents, respite homes, babysitters and volunteers from local churches.

Today, Child SHARE works with over 400 local congregations representing 30 denominations to find families and friends for abused children through various programs. Over 600 children lived in Child SHARE's foster or adoptive homes in LA or Orange County last year, with around 200 new placements each year! Even more exciting, two out of three children placed in a Child SHARE home stay with the SAME family until they are reunited with a relative or adopted. One in three Child SHARE children is ADOPTED, usually by their foster parents, more than twice the national average!

Nationally, Child SHARE has been replicated in Oklahoma and New Mexico. We have completed our first national campaign, FINDING HOMES FOR 1,000 CHILDREN IN 1,000 DAYS THROUGH LOCAL CONGREGATIONS and met and exceeded that goal! – lessMore from ZoomInfo »
