Purpose / Scope:
The Program Director for the Family ACTion Center will be located in New Whiteland, Johnson County, and serve primarily Johnson, Shelby, and Bartholomew counties. The Director works with formal and informal leaders to build the community capacity for providing quality services to families involved with DCS. . Primarily, this person will concentrate on building a team to provide home based therapy and home based casework throughout Region 14.. This position will also oversee the grants and contracts with the United way and Special services and will ensure that quality services are provided to these clients and referral services as well. This position requires travel within the region providing supervision of staff and services to clients and coordinating resources within each community. This position also develops and maintains relationships with local county agencies.
1. Supervise staff with proper documentation to ensure that policy and procedures of Children’s Bureau are being carried out. 2. Managing and developing a yearly program budget to include monthly review of financial statements. 3. Attend minimum of 20 hours annually of in-service/workshops to include one topic on diversity. 4. Make sure all monthly reports are completed on time and submitted for review. 5 Respond to crisis situations and assist community staff. 6.. Complete staff payroll and forward to financial department on time. 7.. Assist with intake and discharge of clients. 8. Be available by phone and/or respond to crisis situations with clients and staff. 9. Maintain statistical data as required for contracts or grants. 10 Maintain client files and ensure all necessary documentation is present. 11.. Perform any other duties as deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications / Skills:
- MSW and/or Master’s degree required or related degree in a human service field. * Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance and car. * 2 years experience in management or supervisory capacity in child welfare or related field preferred. * Knowledge of community resources services and programs. * Knowledge in the areas of abuse/neglect * Knowledge of how stress can impact people and their lives * Strong communication skills, both verbal and written * Experience in working with a team. * Experience/ability to respond appropriately to cultural difference in the community, staff and clients. * CEO/Executive Vice Presidents/Vice Presidents/Program Directors must be able to develop grant and annual program/departmental budgets as well as be accountable for it throughout the year. * Experience in writing and reviewing case plans and setting client goals.
