Job Requirements:

Associates Degree, Bachelors Degree preferred. High School Diploma with 2+ years experience in child welfare considered. Experience working in child welfare, preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work with culturally diverse families. Knowledge of strength-based approach to working with children and families. Flexibility. Nights and weekends required. Hours dependent on needs of program, monthly minimum required. Experience working with children and families will be a plus. Valid Driver’s License required. State Central Registry Clearance required.

General Responsibilities:

This is a part time position. The Visitation Coach is responsible for facilitating coached visitation with children and families. The Visitation Coach will ensure the safety and constant supervision of children during visitation with family members/guardians/custodians/parent, etc. The Visitation Coach will act as a role model and mentor to assist in the reunification process through direct guidance and support. The Visitation Coach will help families to develop Visitation Expectations and help families to reach these goals. The Visitation Coach is also a member of the treatment team and will participate in regular team meetings to review progress. The Visitation Coach must be unbiased and willing to work with a diverse population.

Interpersonal Skills:

Exhibit and practice sensitivity and understanding of a culturally diverse populations.Communicate clearly and logically both orally and in writing. Have proficient time management and organizational skills. Be patient, understanding and supportive of youth and families. Able to establish a professional rapport with the youth and families to develop trust and help them to better understand their needs and goals. Maintaining professional boundaries at all time is a must.

Working Conditions:

Works in a home-like/cottage environment, travel will be required. Must be willing to work with families in community settings, such as restaurants, parks, store, etc., as well as in the family’s homes, as needed.

Certificate and/or Licenses:

Valid NYS drivers license, CPR/First Aid Certification. Coached Visitation Certification and TCI certification, a plus. Additional training will be required following date of hire.

Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive and confidential information, must be able to work with youth at risk, responsible for timely and accurate completion of all assigned duties, must exhibit good personal conduct, maintain a business-like appearance in manner and attire at all times whether on or off campus in adherence with the CHJC Dress Code Policy, obey all safety rules.
