We believe the key to producing successful students is a strong early foundation. Our teachers work closely with parents to ensure that all children can read. We are proud of the fact that in the spring of 2007 ninety one hundred percent of our third graders passed the state reading assessment on the first administration.
As students progress through the Junior High and High School, Childress ISD provides them with a wide array of opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. The curriculum is challenging, and Childress High School received the Gold Performance Acknowledgement from TEA for having eighty seven percent of our graduates on the state Recommended Plan.
The majority of students in our district participate in one or more of the many extracurricular activities offered. From our storied football teams to our award winning agriculture programs, students are given opportunities to excel in athletics, music, and many other competitive arenas.
The most exciting feature of our school in the future will be our technology readiness. When school opens in fall 2007, every teacher in the district and every student in grades six through twelve will have a new Apple laptop computer. Our teachers are going through extensive training this summer and next year most student work and most resources, including textbooks, will be on their computers. Students will truly be preparing for the future by utilizing technology for research, production of presentations, and everyday assignments. At Childress ISD we are dedicated to being the most technologically advanced school in the nation.
The success of Childress ISD would be impossible without the enthusiastic support of a fine community. A dedicated board of trustees has made innovations such as our laptop initiative possible, and an army of volunteers all work to make our district a place where every child is truly a winner. – less–ZoomInfo
