Choice Hotels adds steady value and operates as such. The company has clearly defined its space and is a rewarding place to work.

Zero loyalty
Property Support Coordinator (Former Employee), Phoenix, AZ – May 2, 2013
The company decided to cut the whole department I worked in, to be replaced by out sourcing from a different country. Fortunately, I had already left, but there were people there for several years and more that did not get a notice or anything. The management department all were let go as well and walked out on the same day that they switched to out – more... of country help. They used the managers and lead them to believe they would be safe if they continued to work while the department was being cut down. Once it was cut down, they were all surprised as they had people ready to walk them out after a meeting to let them know that the company changed their mind on keeping them. Summed up my whole 4.5 years there. I was smart and left a few months before this, but those who stayed were all put out at the same time, so all had to try and fight for the same jobs that were out there. – less

helping members with frequent traveller rewards, promotions, and travel arrangements
Member Services Specialist (Former Employee), Grand Junction, CO – February 8, 2013
Pros: superb training matches the actual requirements well
Cons: answering incoming calls can become monotonous; not always able to help callers
This was a good job outsourced when Choice Hotels sought the assistance of a 3rd party company to manage our call center needs.

The worst part of the job was answering the same questions over and over, compensated by the best part of the job when I could provide meaningful assistance to a valued travel club member.

Best Health Insurance
Call Center Coordinator (Former Employee), Grand Junction, CO – January 1, 2013
Pros: cheap hotel rooms and long vacations
Cons: your weekly work schedule will not be the one you want.
The Call Center runs 24/7. You'll be scheduled based on the needs of the company, not based on your needs. If you want to go to church on Sunday, your only option is to work a late shift every day. Otherwise, you're going to work on Sunday morning.

If you need an individual day off, however, it's pretty easy to get one every few weeks. You can also – more... take extended vacations by trading away some of your shifts while you're away.

The health insurance at this company is better than any other health insurance I've seen. If this is a reason for you to work, then work here. – less

Researched accounts, answered questions, and worked with new customers. Successfully pacified hostile or
antagonistic callers and negotiated a mutually agreeable solution by patiently providing alternatives to reconcile the
customer's needs with the company's objectives.

This company has many double standards and although they claim to be dual client based, they are mostly representative of hotels and not guests.
Customer Service Specialist (Former Employee), Grand Junction, CO – July 4, 2012
Pros: company has a good trainig program.
Cons: short breaks, differing levels of intolerance from management, expensive but inadequate insurance
Spent 8 hours per day on phones answering customer complaints and working to resolve customer issues.
Learned effective procedures to satisfy guests without giving them anything.
Management in this company is very inconsistent, and favor is granted on likeability not work ethic.
Most of the co-workers in this company are hard working individuals with – more... great attitudes toward each other.
The hardest part of this job is to keep up with the company's changing attitude of what is "correct" customer service.
I most enjoyed actually being able to help the customers in a way that was pleasing to them and being able to give them what they had honestly earned in the way of incentives – less

DIRECTOR (Former Employee), Phoenix, AZ – June 29, 2012
It used to have a strong sense of community...not so much anymore. The location is good and there are good people that still work there, but the senior management can leave a bit to be desired.

Rewarding and diverse workplace
Programmer/Analyst (Former Employee), Phoenix, AZ – March 23, 2012
Pros: work/life balance, promote from within, rewards and perks, green
Cons: top heavy, starting to out-source more, cuts in benefits and perks
I truly enjoyed working at Choice - learned a lot at this company and collaborated with friendly and diverse teams. Choice is environmentally conscious (telecommuting privileges, recycling, carpool incentives) and contributes to its community.
