We are a $45 million engineering/manufacturing company seeking a Financial Accountant reporting to the Corporate Controller. We seek a highly motivated candidate for an excellent opportunity to contribute to company growth and gain valuable experience; preferably candidates that can thrive and grow in a fast paced environment with numerous deadlines and priorities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Financial reporting and financial management

o Prepare consolidated financial statements (monthly)
o Preare formal external reporting packages to Bank, Board of Directors
o Prepare account reconciliations and related journal entries (monthly)
o Monitor, maintain accurate and timely intercompany accounts
o Support year-end external audit process (annually)
o Work with Controller and other supervisors and managers to develop and sustain internal controls and documentation (ongoing)

  • Management reporting

o Prepare formal month end management reporting packages (monthly)
o Run and/or prepare financial reports for management and internal customers (daily/weekly)
o Prepare or run ad hoc reports in Excel or Crystal Reports for financial analysis (monthly)
o Update and prepare customer and product line profitability reports (monthly or as needed)

  • Tax

o Prepare internal year-end tax provision
o Support year-end tax return preparation by external tax accountants
o Monitor and maintain GL income tax account activity
o Monitor and handle other state and governmental compliance reports

  • Budgeting and Forecasting

o Prepare rolling financial forecast including cash flow (monthly)
o Prepare detailed Company budgets by plant, department, entity

  • Accounts receivable and credit (daily)

o Run credit reports, monitor credit limits and credit holds, recommend credit decisions to Controller
o Work with finance team to standardize and sustain a/r collection processes

  • Financial Analysis

o Review expense spending levels against budget and prior periods to identify trends for management action
o Miscellaneous projects as assigned

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 2-5 year experience
  • Customer focus on internal and external customer needs
  • Strong initiative, proactive, sense of urgency
  • Interpersonal communication and collaboration skills
  • Organization and strong time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Analytical skills and aptitude for problem solving
  • Strong accounting aptitude with ability to recognize and understand the cross functional impact of transactions
  • Familiarity with ERP or similar integrated information systems is a plus
  • Microsoft Excel and Word skills
