The early days were better than the last 6 months.
Garn/Levy Spec, Teller/CSR, Admn Sec (Former Employee), Saginaw, MI – December 11, 2012
Pros: the earlier years, management and staff were teams, fun days
Cons: being let go when they down-sized in 2004 and their management tactics.
After spending 25 years of my life with Citizens Bank, going from receptionist to Admin Asst to VP in Credit Dept, then Teller/Cust Serv Rep to Loan Adjustor and finally being the Garnishment/Levy Specialist for the whole Corporation, I wasn't treated fairly when they involuntarily retired me and walked me out the door with my belongings in a box. Not – more... happy with their recent management since 2002 and can't say that I feel sorry for them since they've been bought out. Serves them right after merging with other banks and changing every employees lives so drastically as mine.
I do feel sorry for my best friend there, though, who has spent her whole life, more than 35 years with them. – less

Citizens bank offers wide array of financial products and services.
QA Analyst (Former Employee), CT – November 16, 2012
Citizens bank offers wide array of financial products and services. The website allows customers to access only their
account information. In case of joint customers, the customers can see the joint account and their personal accounts.
Also, the customer can transfer funds between their accounts and to a third party and pay bills via the Internet, by – more... phone
or wireless devices. – less

Working for Citizens Bank was a pleasure.
Several internal positions-always moved up (Former Employee), Riverside and Cranston RI – November 15, 2012
Pros: na
Cons: na
The CEO, when I started, used to visit the different facilities and he would know people by their first names. He was involved and really took an interest in the people and their input. He cared and showed it in actions.
My brother died while I was working there after my first year with Citizens Bank (my sister and mother also), my sister had just started – more... and my mother had worked for Citizens Bank since 1971. That man called my mother to personally ask what he could do to help. The policies dictated only a certain amount of time out with pay for new employees. My mother asked to have her children be able to stay out of work with her and be paid and he agreed and it was done.
That is caring about people and not money. It helped her recover and we all returned to work productively.
Just an example of how things used to be. – less

Great hours
Teller (Former Employee), throughout Rhode Island – November 7, 2012
I would interact with people on a daily basis and process there transactions. I enjoyed the customers and my coworkers and loved the hours. The hardest part was traveling to all the different stores and not being able to settle down.

What I learned
Small Business Loan Analyst (Former Employee), Warwick, RI – November 6, 2012
I learned something special: Their Credo. Customers, Colleagues and Community as the “Three Cs”:

• Customers: We work for them. If they like us, if they trust us, if they believe in us, if they think we are a good bank and a trusted advisor, we all grow and prosper.

• Colleagues: We want to be a rewarding place to work. We believe a highly engaged, – more... diverse team of colleagues will deliver an exceptional experience for our customers.

• Community: When the community prospers, we all prosper. We invest in places and people we know. We give back. We encourage community involvement and volunteerism.

Everyone at Citizens Bank is expected to live the Credo every day and guide our actions. We are expected to be honest and ethical in all that we do. – less

Horrible Company to work for
Management (Current Employee), Philadelphia, pa – November 4, 2012
Pros: great health benefits
Cons: long work days, limited lunch, no help from management, false information about the position, dishonest managers
This could be a great company to work for, if management was not always demanding that you sell checking accounts day. Too much emphasis is placed on SELLING a checking account and not enough on the customer service. You are reminded daily that you are hired as a sales person so your job is to sell. Every day there are 2 conference calls: mornings and – more... afternoons that your VP humilate you on both call and you are treatened with termination if you do not make goal not to mention the calling session they have at the corporate office daily as a punishment if you did not make sales for the day. Works days are 10 hours daily 5 days weekly with only 1/2 hour lunch. Do not ever make the mistake of NOT joining the Good Old Boys Club if not your every work will be di-sected for reason to terminate you. And do not even think of calling HR, every thing you report to HR goes right back to your VP, then your manager. Sales goals and very unattainable and when you attempt to discuss with your manager you are treatened with " alot of people are linedup to take your job". The corporate manager gives you the pony and dance song about " you can talk to him about anything" but you are only being setup to be fired when you voice any concerns. DO NOT DO IT. You go to work with a sadden heart every day, because everyday could be your last day on the job.
Corporate managers need to listen to their employees, they have a great staff of employees but their talents are lost, lost in the momentun of " What Sales Did You Get Today". When you are interviewed, the hiring manager do not disclose the truth abount the job you are interviewing for, thus after 6 months you want to leave. Employees with the same job as you, hired the same day as you get paid a higher salary although you have a degree and they do not. The compant has a great level of staff working there but their dishonesty is driving them away. – less

Challenging and fun working environment where you can continue to learn.
Banker (Current Employee), Williamsville, NY – October 29, 2012
Pros: flexible schedule with room for advancement
Cons: work later than normal banks
Freedom to put customers into virtually every product the bank offers, review accounts to maximize return on investment for customers. Requires you to be proficient on a teller drawer, know how to process transactions, and handling large sums of money. This allows you to see how the banking process works from the top down which also helps in your sales. – more... Goal-oriented and well compensated for hard work. Its very enjoyable to have customer interaction at such a high level. – less

Productive and Team oriented
Banker/ Assistant Manager (Former Employee), Southampton,PA – October 28, 2012
Pros: healthcare
Cons: na
We would have a routine meeting every morning around branch goals in sales and customer service. What our plans would be for production and our results to our individual goal. I would follow up with customer's in regards to service issues and also confirm my appointments for the day. Through out the day I would assist customers with personal and business – more... accounts including but not limited to Loans, accounts, mortgage and any customer service issues. – less

Would not recommend working here to anyhone
Tech Manager (Former Employee), East Providece – October 23, 2012
Pros: receiving a paycheck
Cons: depressing environment full of hateful people, you hate to come to work each day, no advancement, no training, no respect from coworkers and management, lazy management, incompetent management. retaliation for going to medical appts.
Worst place I've ever worked. Management is on your case constantly. They get away with harrassment on all levels daily and it's amazing that they haven't been slapped with more lawsuits than they already have. The environment in much of the company is hostile. Everyone is very disrespectful to each other; a really uncomfortable place to work. You are – more... constantly looking over your shoulder. They want you to give your personal life to them; if you don't you are threatened with termination. When you ask for time off for appointments, etc. the answer is "No". No give and take at all...it's all take from the employees. Benefits are o.k. but you are encouraged to not take all of your vacation that is due; if you do take it you are looked down upon. There is no job security and you are constantly worrying if you'll still have a job tomorrow. Very few people can advance; that is, unless you know the right people. The hard workers stay put and are not given any advancement chances. – less

Good place to work
Personal Banker (Current Employee), Branch level, near or in Genesee County – October 18, 2012
Pros: friendly environment, no labor, simple, if you perform you're left alone (in my district anyways)
Cons: incentive program is not transparent at all most district officers can't explain it, very inconsistent, constantly changing and not related directly to your production
Citizens Bank is a good place to work. It's not amazing, but it's far from the bottom. They are a relatively honest company as far as I can tell. The job really depends on who your manager is, and who their manager is. The company is usually picky on who they hire, but not always. From what I've heard the pay is in middle for financial institutions.

They talk a big game...
Branch Sales Manager (Former Employee), Rochester, New York – October 18, 2012
Pros: decent pay (but quite below industry average), colleagues
Cons: management is terrible, policies are subjective and bent to fit their immediate need.
They say they are for employees and customers, but only as far as they are making money. Management is inept below the State Director level. Decision making, especially some simple common sense decision, managers and regional just cannot make due to constraints placed on them. This job really comes down to sales and is absolutely a "what have you done – more... for me today" type of job. If you do well, you are made to feel like a rockstar...have a bad quarter and they turn on you like a pack of wolves and start to push you out.. colleagues are leaving this market in droves due to the unreasonable expectations and incompetent regional and state management. – less

Teller I (Current Employee), Brockton, MA – October 17, 2012
A typical day at work you will learn many things not only from your colleagues but also from your customers. Believe it or not many of the customers have great advice and knowledge to offer. Management is great and the people you work with will become like family.

Assistant Branch Manager/Personal Banker (Former Employee), Springfield, MA – October 16, 2012
Pros: commission, bonus
Cons: working every weekend and holiday
A day consited of assisting customers with teller transactions, setting up appointments going over a financial funnel uncovering their finiancial needs. a strong team was necessary to attain all expected and required goals. I learned to never judge a book by its cover. Managent would do their best with flexibility not just to attain branch goals but – more... also personal reasons. Hardest part of my employment there was working every weekend and holidays. the most enjoyable part of my job was helping customers achieve their mile stones in life (i.e homeownership, first business) and there were no two days a-like. – less
