School Safety Officer (Current Employee) – Albany, NY – September 17, 2013
A typical day in the Albany school system ushering the students, searching their belonging for possible weapons or drugs. Managing the safety of the school as well as staff. My co-workers in the school safety unit were great to work with, we understood that we were to work as a unit to complete the task. The hardest part of this job was escorting an student off the property and sometimes the parent(s). The most enjoyable part of the job, I was able to restart my desire to want more education, especially in math and science.
having an positive influence on the students
some of the teachers were there only to collect a check not to teach

support staff worker (Former Employee) – Albany,NY – August 30, 2011
You'll have to navigate enbedded political structures, and an undereducated support staff, with non progressive idealizations. Must be willing to follow the pecking order to maintain employment. Working with students was the best aspect of the job. Students are looking for true guidenance from the worker. Be prepared for backlash if you are good at what you do.
