Good Environment to Work
Parking Violations Bureau Representative (Current Employee), Columbus, OH – May 12, 2013
Nice place with good employees. Schedules are good and the office manager tries to accommodate you whenever you need time off, whether it be an hour in the middle of the day or a day off in the middle of the week.

Enjoyed working here everyday with good people to work with.
Automated Truck Driver, RCVOA (Former Employee), Columbus, OH – December 11, 2012
Come into work at 6 a.m., get routes and paperwork needed. Get truck ready. Go out to assigned route and once completed, go unload truck, clean out truck, fuel up truck and park for the day. Come in and do it all over again the next day. I loved my co-workers. I made good friends and met their family members and had good times. The hardest part of the – more... job I think was "Defensive Driving". People out on the roads just did not want to ride behind as, always had to go around and cut us off just to be ahead of us. I enjoyed talking to and helping out the residents that I collected the garbage for. There's a lot of good people out there in Columbus. – less

I was a great place to work
Administrative Asst. and Office Asst. 1 (Former Employee), Columbus, OH – October 20, 2012
Pros: helping customers to resolve their complaints
Cons: sometimes i was not able to take a break
I answered the switchboard phones for the Code Enforcement Division. I received complaints from the citizens daily. I input the complaints into Excel for the supervisors. I also received calls from the mayor's 311 call center. I also did the incoming and outgoing mail for the division. I typed letters, memos and legislations for the division. the most – more... enjoyable part of my job was helping the customers daily. – less

Excellent Experience for many careers
Expert Police Officer;Criminal Investigator (Former Employee), Columbus, OH – October 3, 2012
Pros: exciting and mobile.
Cons: little time for a personal life.
There was no "typical" day at work. Anything can happen any day. The freedom to think and act quickly and independently prepares the Officer for many employment tasks; including management roles.

Government is not business nor does it operate as such
ACCOUNT MANAGER (Current Employee), Columbus, OH – June 15, 2012
Pros: public service
Cons: ineffective leadership and often blatant disregard for rules and laws
Before taking a job in any government bureaucracy, assure yourself that you can manage long periods of being ineffective. Also, be aware that communication within government is questionable. Seek the policies, procedures, laws, rules, and regulations to support what it is that you want to do or the direction in which you would like to go. Finally, my – more... belief is that public service is a duty for everyone in the public sector and not merely relegated to those who where elected to public positions. – less

Best job I ever had.
Community Relations Representative (Former Employee), Columbus, OH – May 16, 2012
Although task and duties were cast in stone, each day was a new horizon full of enjoyment. In my early years managers allowed you to do your thing. In later years they micro-managed more. We were like most institutions in that 95% of the employees being dedicated and would go the extra mile. Meeting deadlines that was beyond my control was the most – more... difficult for me. When I was with my community folks and the citizenry listening to their dreams and engaging them about the constraints they encounter everyday was most enjoyable to me. – less

This was not a company, Entrepreneurial work
Independent Work/Entrepreneurial (Former Employee), Columbus, Ohio – April 16, 2012
Pros: when done properly it has great compensation
Cons: very long days, high risk for relatively low average payout
A day starts with product procurement and location placement, long day of sales, managing loss and strategizing profit margins to maximize product movement verses product availability, and allow for reasonable compensation for work and expenditures.
