Great place to work with really nice staff/managers!
Utilities Customer Service Rep (Current Employee) – Denton, TX – September 15, 2017
In all honesty, the City of Denton Utilities Customer Service department is run by fantastic people that genuinely care! It is a great place to work and even though I did not get to stay this time around, I will apply again!
Water Operator Level 1 (Current Employee) – Denton, TX – March 28, 2017
Working for a water treatment plant can be a fun but dangerous job all in one. Working with different kinds of chemicals with all different PH levels. The management is more looking for a yes man and im not that. I like to ask questions about what is going on and not just be told to do something and go do it.
City of Denton is a very proactive in their approach to their future.
Manager of the Code Enforcement Department (Current Employee) – Denton, TX – March 26, 2017
City of Denton understands that their greatest asset are their employees. City of Denton is a very proactive in their approach to their future. They take a stand on what is best for their community even when the State legislature goes against the voters wishes. The city is growing so rapidly that it can be difficult working through the growing pains. My staff is the best ever and I enjoy working with them.
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) – Denton, TX – December 9, 2016
I worked with great people who were always there to help. If I had any questions, or doubted something in the process they would help me. Working for the City of Denton, especially the utility company I learned a lot about our electric provider, trash service, and also our water department. I had a great relationship with my supervisor and lead. I did have difficulties for about a year but that was because I was still adjusting and still learning.
Work could be more challenging with more responsibility and decision making
Radio System Mgr. Electronics Technician V (Current Employee) – Service Center – May 31, 2016
A typical day would be to check your email and calendar for responses and changes or updates, check the radio system report for changes an errors that may have occurred over night, check on radio repair status for outgoing and incoming repairs.
Management style was not something to be desired. Micromanagement was employed which stymied creativity and did not provide for total ownership on projects received.
Co-workers were untrustworthy.
Interacting with customers such as PD, FD and EMS personal was the most enjoyable part of my job.
Employee appreciation activities
No recognition from management on accomplishments and micromanagement of employees
Loved this place it is awesome! I was one of the camp counselor for the city and it is one of the best jobs ever. I love all of my coworkers! although I don't agree with some people in some positions but life is what you make it! This job inspired me to actually work for a city as my initial career path.
Diverse people, interesting days, best job I've had
Customer Service Represenative II (Former Employee) – Denton, TX – November 14, 2014
Working for the City is both empowering and enjoyable. I learned so much about utilities and customer service. Management is very encouraging and supportive and coworkers are friendly and create a fun enviroment. The hardest part of the job is also the most fulfilling and enjoyable, finding a resolution for upset customers in hard situations.
Radio Systems Mgr/Electronic Technician V (Current Employee) – Denton, TX – April 27, 2014
Check Calendar for work activity changes and updates, read and respond to email, check status of outgoing radio repair, check status of radio system: busies, control channel, handle customer walk-in radio repairs, help with radio installations in vehicles, attend staff meetings.
Everyone is really friendly and fun to work with. The best part of the job is being able to do a big variety of work. It can get stressful when an important request is needed right away, but for the most part I love working there.
Lifeguard (Former Employee) – Denton, TX – September 24, 2013
Watching over the patrons to ensure safety as well as regulated the rules. I learned how to perform CPR. The management was good especially to its workers. My co-workers were kind hearted individuals that cared about their job and the peoples safety. The hardest part of the job was making sure that the rules were being followed at all times. The most enjoyable part of the job was knowing that your there to ensure the lives of the patrons.
