telecommunication officer for the city of Hopewell
Dispatcher (Current Employee) – Hopewell, VA – September 24, 2014
A typical day is a busy day with the citizens of Hopewell calling in calls for service. we handle police, fire, ems, sheriffs and animal control all while taking inbound calls and monitoring the radio's and VCIN terminal. We only have two people working dispatch at any given time.
on a good day we are busy and the 12 hours shifts fly by depends on what the calls for service are. If it is a slow night it is a long 12 shift. we work 2 days off 2 days work 3 off 2. we work the same shifts our officers do so that get to know there dispatchers and we get to know how they work.
sometimes no breaks, no advancement
