A typical day at work requires forty-five to fifty minutes of each hour spent sitting or standing on deck, consistently scanning and watching the people in the pool or on deck. Closing the pool, I would have to clean up the deck (chairs, tables, umbrellas, turn off lights) and move around the lane lines, and cover the jacuzzi. I learned incredible responsibility, alertness, and awareness of my surroundings while working. Management was great and very orderly. Co-workers were kind and also very responsible and reliable. The hardest part of the job was knowing that in the case of any emergency or accident, I would need to take action and be the one to come to the rescue. The most enjoyable part was getting to know the patrons, conversing with them, and spending time outdoors.
