Most days are spent organization of department activities to include training, public relations, and response to incidents. It is my responsibility to ensure that all units are operating within their turn out and response times while maintaining coverage within their perspective districts. I handle Strategic Planning for the department and as such, I must continually monitor the projects and committees associated with the overall success of the Plan. Meetings with the Fire Chief and City Managements daily to ensure that goals are being met and budget is maintained. We are a rapidly growing department, so in order to stay ahead of the curve we must be constantly monitoring and looking ahead to increase our capabilities. The hardest part of the job is the constant change. There is more change in a week within our department than most Fire Departments have in 5 years. It has been the most rewarding thing to build a department from the ground up. It all started in 2007 when the Volunteer department were unable to maintain response. I was the first operational officer hired after the Fire Chief. With this came unique and difficult responsibilities that have grown my knowledge and leadership skills along the way.
Rapid Growth, Constant Change, Great people
Constant change, lack of understanding from city government
