Utility Operations Meter Technician (Current Employee) –  Plano, TXJanuary 25, 2016
Typical day is 7 to 330 pm. During probation stage you will be learning everyday about your job. Management is great. Co-workers are nice and hard workers. Hardest part about the job can be the labor. Most enjoyable part about the job is the freedom and hours. You have weekends off.

PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST (Former Employee) –  Plano, TXAugust 12, 2015
The work environment is great here you have to be on your P;s and Q;s as this is very fast pace. You will be taking emergency and non emergency phone calls. Training is about 8 weeks in the classroom then you go on the floor to take live calls with a team member beside you that will help you through the process.

Management style is discouraging, inconsistent, and counterproductive. Very intrusive and no trust. Micromanagement is the only way.

Senior Accountant (Former Employee) –  Plano, TXApril 9, 2015
There is a big reason there is a lot of turn-over in this department. If management spent as much time cultivating instead of trying to intimidate and invoke fear, it might be a decent place to work. I was there only about 90 days and the environment was downright hostile.

Dispatcher (Former Employee) –  Plano, TXDecember 29, 2013
The pay was decent. Training is nothing like actually taking calls. Nobody from my training class stayed. Some of the dispatchers who are supposed to sit with you while you take calls were rude and impatient. It is very cliquish. It works for some. Too blue collar to be so political in my opinion. But the job was cool.
Pros
decent pay/cool job
Cons

Recreation Coordinator (Current Employee) –  Plano, TXSeptember 5, 2013
I supervise and train over 100 lifeguards. I complete evaluation, Audits, and perform pump room maintenance that includes chemical checks, daily maintenence (cleaning and changing skimmer baskets, changing out clogged chemical injectors, changing out chemical lines, repairs, pool cleaning and other things as needed). I have a wonderful direct supervisor that I enjoy working with. Upper management is not so great and cannot make a decision about anything without checking with someone else first. The benefits are great working for the city but there is a lot of down time so your day can become very boring at times. The pay is average but other cities pay better.
Pros
3 weeks vacation
Cons
only a 20 min break for every 8 hours you work
