The City’s Workforce Development Department operates the Missouri Career
Center in Springfield as part of the Workforce Investment Act. Springfield’s
Career Center is the largest and busiest in the State of Missouri. In addition to
the Springfield facility, the Workforce Development Department operates
satellite facilities in Branson and Joplin.
The Department employs approximately 65 staff members and works
alongside many agency partners. The Center provides services to businesses
and job assistance for thousands in the service area. The programs are funded
by grant revenues which includes an annual budget of approximately $4
The Missouri Career Center recently moved to a new facility located at 2900 E.
Sunshine. This facility increased their square footage from 35,000 to 40,000 and
allows the staff to help over 500 people who visit their facility on a daily basis.
This phenomenal new facility was designed and developed to accommodate
the customer flow and needs. The new facility houses 50 computers in the
Resource area and a conference room with 3,500 square feet which allows
space to host large job fairs or used for three separate training rooms.
