This was a difficult company to work for on many levels. First, they have a completely open office plan with a number of very loud employees. It makes it very difficult to do any work, and frankly a little embarrassing when trying to talk on the phone with customers.
Second, some of the managers are quite rude and will openly, and loudly, berate employees in front of everyone else. Even if you are not the target, it makes it quite uncomfortable for everyone else.
Last but not least, they bid projects that were well beyond our capability to deliver. The last project they were awarded before I left had an estimated 6000 hours of engineering that had to be done by the end of the year. Only problem was that even if everyone worked 24/7 on that project, to the exclusion of everything else, we would come up about 1000 hours short. In spite of this, they made all of us sign an agreement stating that our new work week was now 50 hours minimum. That was the last thing I did for them.
