A typical day at Work
Catering Assistant (Current Employee), Morrow, GAJuly 28, 2014
Pros: free food
Cons: breaking down event
The day would usually began with setting up for a function (s). After setting up for the function a day before or an hour or two before the event, catering assistants would aide in the last of the preparations of food for the event. Catering assistants like myself are in charge of making sure that the food makes it to the buffet while simultaneously – more... keeping it at the correct temperature to prevent food poisoning. After taking care of each customer, catering assistants are in charge of breaking down the buffet and cleaning up after the events are over; this part of work could be quite tedious at times. The best part about catering is the opportunity to try food prepared for different groups; lot's of food prepared were of different cultures which made it exciting. – less

Amazing place to work
Building Manager (Former Employee), Morrow, GeorgiaJuly 8, 2014
Pros: often fed by events and vendors, always free stuff from vendors, laid back environment, always praising the workers for a job well done
Cons: absolutely no cons if you work in campus life
I worked for Campus Life. Everyday I would come in and answer all phone calls, do paperwork, help in our game room, and multiple other tasks. I've learned an expansive amount from this job more than I could be able to put into words. I had some of the coolest bosses always laid back but never afraid to actually tell somebody when they've done wrong. – more... I can not say that there was a "hard part" to this job honestly every day was enjoyable... I wouldnt call it an "easy" job but its a relaxed environment and had no moments of being too hard for anybody – less

My work place
IT Technical Analyst (Current Employee), Morrow, GAApril 28, 2014
Pros: the interaction with people.
Cons: health care
My primary job at the university is to make sure all staff devices (referring to Laptops, Desktops, iPhones, Fax Machines, and Tablets) function at peak condition. There are four ways i provide this type of service - over the phone, remote login, as a field service tech, and over the counter working face to face with my clients.
The thing i love about – more... my job, is helping my clients with issues regarding their failed devices. Including being able to successfully repair or troubleshoot their devices helps put a smile on their faces because they know the QOS that was rendered was outstanding. – less

Processing Supervisor (Current Employee), Morrow, GAJanuary 15, 2014
Pros: monthly birthday party
Cons: shorter christmas breaks, and raises due to the economy
a typical day at work is very busy for me, which I love. I learn new things that I didn't know often. my environment is enjoyable and my co-workers all work together as a team, which makes my job easier. the hardest part of the job is getting the students to turn in there documents on time and not wait until the last minute. the most enjoyable part – more... of my job is knowing that I have processed the students documents in a timely and accurate manner. – less

Good place to work
Secretary to School of Nursing (Former Employee), Morrow GADecember 16, 2013
Pros: free food occasionally
Cons: walking or driving across campus to deliver something
CSU is a good place to work. My supervisors and the faculty seem to be a cohesive bunch who work well together to get things done. The hardest part of the job was changing gears at a moments notice to get a project completed or staying late to prepare for a scheduled conference or large meeting. The department was spread among many buildings so it was – more... inconvenient; it would have been great if we owned our own building. – less

Supportive and Challenging Workplace with Excellent Colleagues and Students
Associate Professor (Current Employee), Morrow, GAJuly 20, 2013
This university provides a flexible number of options for personal development. The workday is not onerous. Management has an open-door policy and is amenable to change. My co-workers are friendly, supportive and funny. The hardest part of the job is the multiple responsibilities one is required to take on due to the size of the university. The most – more... enjoyable part of the job are the wonderful, passionate, inquisitive students that are so willing to work. – less

Demographically diverse, growing community.
Instructor (Current Employee), Morrow, GAJune 26, 2013
Pros: professional university environment
Cons: correlation of growth and impersonalization of community
Up until the last 3+ years teaching online, my standard work day @ CSU would entail office hours meeting with students, prepping for next class, teaching next class and completing administrative duties.
The most enjoyable part of my CSU experience centers on interacting with students who shared a sincere interest in the topic and/or their performance. – more... The most challenging aspect....the student who has has limited academic success, whose motivations are ambiguous, and 'just wants to get by'.

Online teaching presents a unique set of challenges including the imperfection of technology, students lacking basic computer skills, and the impersonal nature of the instructor/student interaction. On the other hand it is time & energy efficient and offers flexibility for students with scheduling issues. My experience has taught me that the online format is excellent for some students and ineffective for others. – less

Poorly trained management; Support of staff members is non-existent
Academic Program Coordinator (Former Employee), Morrow, GAJune 17, 2013
Pros: tuition reimbursement, flexible hours
Cons: overworked staff members, very little direction/guidance
The hardest part of the job is lack of support from management and their unwillingness to establish transparent policies and procedures. I never know what direction my day will take and priorities are rarely established. I receive performance feedback once a year. That comes in the form of an annual performance evaluation and other than that I never – more... know how my performance is going or how it is being measured. There is a great lack of leadership. Rumors of managers who use fear tactics and bullying to motivate staff/faculty abound. The best part of CSU is the tuition reimbursement program and access to Continuing Education courses. During employment you would do yourself a disservice by not taking advantage of these programs. The campus is lovely and the cafĂ© is nice. Co-workers seem to get along fairly well, but the there is definitely a wide rift between management and faculty/staff members. – less

Productivity at the Center for Instructional Development
Student Assistant (Former Employee), Morrow, GAMarch 26, 2013
Pros: good times with hard working individuals
A typical day at work included greeting faculty and staff as they came into the Center for Instructional Development(CID) for instructional assistance. Other responsibilities included running office errands for the department as well assisting the departments videographer with videotaping school events.

Working at the Center for Instructional Development – more... has given me the hands on skills on how to be an efficient worker with a good work ethic.

My department was managed by an Assessment and Instructional Development Instructor

I enjoyed working with a team of talented individuals who all had a tenacious drive to succeed.

The most enjoyable part of my job is the pride i felt after completing tasks that i was personally responsible for. I also enjoyed working on team projects with several members of the CID department. – less
