A typical day was slow paced and unproductive. No one had any questions or directions when you in a new learning environment. Upper management did not participate in training or helping the new people at that time.

Support staff (Current Employee) –  Cleveland, OHJune 26, 2017
Anyone entering this field should know that it will never be a regular 9-5 type of job, due to the nature of the clients and families that we work with. If you really want to help kids and their families, then this is a place to work.... and no, you're not going to get immediate gratification. You may never know you changed someone's life.
Pros
Free lunch and dinner, OT available almost all the time
Cons
Lack of eligible staff to work with kids

Only God knows this place is very poorly managed and staffed the director is only involved when she's in fear of losing a child placement some of the staff members. Were very unprofessional they kept inappropriate conversations in front of children and if they didnt care for you they attempted to turn the children against you the place is full of bed bugs and rats and or mice i witnessed both horrible place to work.

Internship
Internship (Former Employee) –  Cleveland, OHJuly 12, 2015
For my internship, I volunteered at Cleveland Christian Home. It was a wonderful experience and I learned that they do a lot for children who are troubled, have mental disorders or both. They collect toys for them so they could have Christmas's, birthdays and other celebrated holidays. Its a non profit organization, so they count on the donations of others.
Pros
They donate to children, they collect items for children and they help troubled children
Cons
Because they are non profit, they have to count on the donations of others.

I left that job because it had an abusive environment, to the kids we were to help and to certain staff, that the Director did not care for.

Residential Youth Worker (Former Employee) –  Cleveland, OHDecember 17, 2014
Working with clients can sometimes be difficult, however you have good and bad days at the job. You have some really supportive staff, but there are some really poor people in management positions there. If you do what you are supposed to do the more than likely you will be fine.
Pros
Plenty of opprotunities for overtime
Cons
High turnover rate, poor management, poor benefits.
