Maintenance, Thomas Jefferson on West 46 and Clark - June 10, 2013
On a typical day of work I come in and check with the custodian first and foremost. Secondly, I make sure all of the bathrooms are clean since they are most important. Next, I make sure all of the trash is taken out. Then, I get all of the classroom done, then the main office, the stairwells, the hallways, and lastly I mop the rooms and hallways. Working here I have learned the proper and thorough way to clean bathrooms, mop floors, work a floor machine, use a toilet snake, how to work in tandem with a partner, and improvise when I am by myself, and how to keep the strictest supervisors happy. The management isnt hard to get along with. I have gotten along great with all of the co-workers I have had at all the different schools I have been at. I have also gotten along with all of the teachers and principles. The hardest part of the job is to make up for an absent partner in a under staffed building and still do favors for teachers and staff and do as instructed by the custodian. The most enjoyable part of the job is keeping up with the sports team and my assigned school.
