They can get rid of you anytime they want if you're not in the union and even then...
Multimedia Production Coordinator (Former Employee), Cleveland, OH – April 19, 2013
Pros: very generous sick and vacation policy.
Cons: if your job is on the line, you might as well kiss it goodbye no matter how good you are.
Lost my position as it was 'eliminated in a reorganization'. Power struggles go on all over campus. Worse anymore during current leadership. Everyone is looking over their shoulders. More and more people losing positions, not just me.

Arrogance at the top levels.

Enjoyable place to teach
Graduate Teaching Assistant (Current Employee), Cleveland, OH – April 12, 2013
Cons: had to pay for my own healthcare
I was a graduate teaching assistant and my responsibilities included grading, demonstrating laboratory technique, and presenting a lecture on any information that was relevant to the class on a given day. For the most part, I worked independently and had little interaction with co-workers. Having said that, co-workers were helpful when I asked questions – more... on the most beneficial methods of imparting information to students. Since I had never taught before starting, there was a learning curve at the beginning of my employment at Cleveland State but once I had passed the initial bump in the road, work was mostly enjoyable. My favorite moments came from interacting with students who were genuinely interested in the subject matter I was teaching. – less

Fun Work Place
Starfish Project Team Lead (Current Employee), Cleveland, OH – March 10, 2013
Pros: great place to work, best boss ever
Cons: nothing as such
- Its great to be a part of the Advising department at CSU
- Here I get to meet students from various majors everyday
- My work is usually to take all the students information of the students, advisors and Tutors and try and establish a relationship between them Using CSV into the University Peoplesoft server
- I also have 2 other members in my team – more... people who I look upto to provide me all the required support
- The Hardest part of my job is to be the First person of contact regarding any Issues related to out project , also to train all the students and the tutors so as to how to use the project.

- I think its worth all the pain because a fully functioning project would have all the appointments in the university available online, that what we are trying to achieve – less

A day out tutoring with the children
America Reads Tutor (Former Employee), Brooklyn, OH – February 7, 2013
Pros: meeting new people and knowing i made a difference
Cons: limited hours and no health benefits or insurance
A day of tutoring at the Brooklyn Library...is a lifetime of memories. Tutoring for America Reads was one of the best experiences of my life; not only did I get to expand my knowledge to various children on various subjects, but I had the opportunity to share and learn about different cultures, personalities, and goals. With my fellow Cleveland State – more... peers, we enhanced reading, writing, and math levels for so many children. They learned a lot about us, and we learned a lot more about all of them. One of the best things though, is knowing that you have actually made a difference in someone's life. Kids would bring me their test scores with increased grades to show me their improvement. This not only made the child feel better, but it also made me feel better. I love knowing that I helped them; I love knowing that I made a difference in their lives...and seeing all the wonderful smiles that went along with it made it even better. – less

As a research assistant my day was filled with research. There really was nothing special about this job. Infact it was an assistant ship, and not really a job

Just a paycheck
Employee (Current Employee), Cleveland, Ohio – October 8, 2012
Pros: benefits
Cons: poor management, human resources and little room to grow
This place is great to work for the benefits and a way to network only. They do not promote their current experienced employees nor do they consider them when applying for a new position. Everything is way too political and all about whom you know. They hire managers and directors that are from the corporate world and are very inexperienced who in turn – more... create a horrible working atmosphere. The excellent reviews that have been posted so far are from student workers and GA's not real employees. Someone needs to anonymously interview the minorities on campus. They have a story to tell. This place is totally corrupted. The president doesn’t care as long as he can charge $25.00 cheeseburgers to the university, get overly compensated and work from home a few days a week. He needs to conduct an audit and care about the employees who actually work with the students. Many things are covered up but it’s time for an investigation. – less

Graduate Assistant- Learning Experience
Graduate Assistant, Dept. of Teacher Education (Current Employee), Cleveland, Ohio – August 27, 2012
Answer Phone calls, Help students and give them required information, Assist Professors and fix their technology related issues. Hardest and the most enjoyable part of the job was to help the ESL students who came from countries where English is not the first language. It was quite challenging to help them with any information as they can't speak or – more... understand English. I learnt how to help students and make them feel comfortable. – less

Fun workplace, little pay, very flexible
Computer Lab Student Aide (Former Employee), Cleveland, OH – July 30, 2012
Pros: accessibility to all software for school work, peers were in labs, always felt happy to help others
Cons: short term work
I worked by myself in the computer art lab most of the time. I was there to make sure everything was secure, everyone had a functional printer/computer, help with troubleshooting and technical difficulties and assisting students to other nearby computer labs. There were no difficulties and was a very laid back atmosphere. I always enjoyed going into – more... the job and talked with a lot of students and teachers. – less

Very Professional environment, serving our students and community. Great place to work!
Administrative Coordinator/ Office Manager (Former Employee), Cleveland, Ohio – July 24, 2012
Pros: flexibility, paid holidays, delightful associates and employees. constant training provided to enhance skills.
Cons: parking
Typical day started with answering emails from prospective students, our faculty members or outside individuals seeking assistance. Provided the necessary information to everyone to answer the inquiries. May or may not have a scheduled meeting, if so attend them and add imput. Answer phones and assist callers or route to indivilual that can be more – more... helpful. Follow up with Secretary and office staff for pending items, projects and departmental issues. Kept an open-door policy for everone. Check statistics on classes, and canel or add courses if necessary. Check on pending contracts, travel approvals, scheduling issues as needed. Meet with my supervisor for daily/weekly issues.
I loved working for Cleveland State, I love helping people acheive their goals. I enjoyed all-day every day. Sometimes things were hectic and there seem to not be enough hours in the day expecially the beginning of each semester with last-minute registration issues.

I left my job to re-locate to Florida with my spouse and 15 year old son. I would love to join a company and be an asset. I am a very hard working, organized and dedicated employee who loves to challanges. – less
