We are looking for a strong candidate to take on a dual role as Marketing Copywriter and Public Relations Specialist. You will be responsible for producing all the content on our retail websites, from simple product descriptions to enhanced lifestyle articles. Additionally, you will be responsible for securing media coverage for our company and our branded properties.

Writing Responsibilities:
-Create copy for new products; edit and update legacy product descriptions
-Create new and interesting articles for our branded websites to increase organic search traffic and provide an engaging consumer experience
-Create unique copy for title tags and meta descriptions of each website category and product
-Work with Merchandising to learn about our category and product details
-Research products, brands, designers and trends to understand our general marketplace and customer base

Public Relations Responsibilities:
-Proactively develop newsworthy story angles by analyzing industry trends
-Partner with internal departments to gather supporting information to drive media pitches
-Drive local and national media coverage for our branded properties
-Pursue company features in local and national media outlets - business outlets for corporate stories and consumer outlets for branded properties
-Build and maintain relationships with reporters and editors

Specific Skills:
-Preferred candidate will have 2-4 years of relevant experience with proven track record in both media relations and writing at a lifestyle publication; will consider other candidates with related experience in print and online media
-Creative and persuasive writer; ability to quickly produce content on deadline
-Strong understanding of internet marketing principles; experience with ecommerce or retail environment desirable
-Familiarity with website administration and content management systems
-Proven track record of success in media relations; understanding of how the media deadlines and editorial calendars work
-Self-starter with the drive and determination to secure measurable results
-Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work in fluid, fast-paced environment
-Knowledge of current events and popular culture
