Boring
Employee (Former Employee), Menan, ID – May 20, 2013
Pros: free pop
Cons: boss was rude, no one to talk to.
For the most part I was in the back in the refrigerator stocking the various drinks. I would also stock the machines and clean the bathrooms as well as the store vacuum, sweep, mop ext. There was usually only one other person there but we would both be working so there wasn't much time to talk. It was boring.

Productive
sales assistant (Current Employee), swindon – April 16, 2013
Pros: they work around me and give me the day shift.
Cons: not many holidays
On a typical day at work I am on tills or cleaning or stocking shalves. I haven't really learned much as its the same things day in day out. Management in the store is okay not really much to rate there. The people I work with are nice and easy to get on with. There isn't a hardest part of my job. The most enjoyable part of my job is my co-workers as – more... I get on well with them. – less

Nice place to work.
General Assistant (Former Employee), Deal – March 6, 2013
Pros: meeting new people ie customers and new team members
Worked with nice staff; enjoyed customer interaction.
A typical day would be getting to work and doing your general duties as well as lots of customer interaction. There were lots of regular customers who you could form bonds with over the years.
Learnt till work, and interacting with other people (ie strangers) - this really enhanced my confidence.
There – more... were some lovely managers over the 12 years that I worked there.
I got on very well with my co-workers.
The hardest part of the job was working out in the back office on the computer.
The most enjoyable part of the job was working with other people. – less

A great place to start out at
Bakery Clerk/Baker (Former Employee), Dawson Creek, BC – February 12, 2013
Here is where I was introduced to a variety of buns, breads, and desserts. I was eager to learn anything of the bakery retail, and was very excited to learn how the products were packaged and where they came from. It was a whole new world to me and I enjoyed each new day.
On a typical day, I would put out unsliced loaves of bread for display and date – more... and put out the commercial products. Then I checked the order book, packed up what orders there were, then began slicing bread and packing desserts or bagging buns. Throughout the day I helped customers, answered the phone, refilled any empty shelves, and cleaned the entire bakery area.
3 months after starting, I was being trained in the back where the most exciting part of baking happens. Though I was disappointed that nothing was done from scratch there, I thoroughly enjoyed my first cake decorating lessons, as well as learning how to properly pan the frozen products. I enjoyed my co-worker's and the manager's, as they were all supportive and helpful.
The hardest part of the job was the time restraints and having a lot to do in a short amount of time. The most enjoyable part was the learning, and spending time with some fun people. – less

Nice Start Into the Workplace
Labourer (Former Employee), Canwood, SK – January 27, 2013
Pros: easy work
Cons: low wages
Everyday i would, run till, carry out groceries to customers vehicles, stock shelves, face shelves, and pump gas. I learned how to pump gas, money management skills, how to run a cash register, what "facing shelves" meant. My co-workers we generally okay, some were better than others but in general they were helpful. Hardest part of the job was having – more... to lift heavy oil pails. The most enjoyable part is when you see the smile of an elderly woman you just helped and hearing their thanks. – less

Productive and good attitude workplace
Meat Cutter (Former Employee), Milford Station, NS – October 23, 2012
Pros: being around people, learning new things each and every day i worked.
Cons: short hours and not many.
The typical day at work starts out with a fresh new shipment then as the day goes on, we unpackage some items, cut and prepare them for shelf life. At the end of the day my manager and I would clean up the work place of excess meat and empty packages. Cardboard crushing would go on as well as sweeping, moping and wiping. I learned a lot from this job, – more... I learned many people skills from dealing with demanding customers on the phone and non. I also learned some hard work ethics as well as having a smile on at the same time.I also learned different types of meats and how to cut certain types properly The hardest part of the job was leaving the job when you only had so many hours to work there. The most enjoyable part of the job was there was always something new to learn and the people who I worked with. – less

A suitable first job
Shelf stacker (Former Employee), Houghton-le-spring – October 12, 2012
Pros: they hired me with no real works experience
Cons: if they could of replaced me with a machine they would of, the co-op radio only played 4 songs after 3 weeks that got kind of annoying
Working the night shift, you'd arrive then wait for the evening deliveries for the next day. You would have to take a stock check, organize the stock into trolleys for aisles, then put the stock on the shelves, clean the floors and ensure the products where faced properly for the next day.
