Nurse Practitioner Manager/Assistant Director of Medical Services
Colorado State University invites nominations and applications for a Nurse Practitioner to serve as Assistant Director of Medical Services with the CSU Health Network. Housed within the Division of Student Affairs, the CSU Health Network provides comprehensive medical and mental health services to approximately 26,000 students. The Health Network Services enjoy full accreditation through the AAAHC. The clinics are open M-F (except for University Holidays) throughout the year and include primary care, women’s health and psychiatric providers.
The Assistant Director of Medical Services reports to the Director of Medical Services. The Assistant Director of Medical Services works as a nurse practitioner providing primary care and supervises the medical and triage clinic nurse practitioners and nursing supervisors.
Colorado State University is located in Fort Collins, a city of approximately 136,000 that is 65 miles north of Denver. Duties and Responsibilities
Provides primary care as a nurse practitioner in the Medical and Triage Clinics. Duties include but are not limited to: evaluating and treating patients by taking a history, performing a physical examination, ordering and interpreting tests, consulting with physicians as indicated, referring to other providers as needed, prescribing and monitoring medications and documenting in the electronic health record.
Provides leadership for the nurse practitioners and nurses at the CSU Health Network.
Provides supervision of the Medical Clinic nurse practitioners and the Triage and Medical Clinic nursing supervisors including providing and documenting mid-year and annual evaluations.
Coordinates staffing of the Medical Clinic and ensures adequate staffing of medical providers for all clinics at the CSU Health Network.
Works with the nursing supervisors to ensure that nursing services are appropriately staffed.
Participates in hiring of midlevel provider and nursing staff and other staff as needed.
Participates in continuing education to stay up to date in clinical practice.
Serves as a member of the Extended Leadership team.
Leads the monthly Medical Clinic and Nurse Practitioner meetings.
Provides opportunities for NP and nursing students to obtain clinical experience at the CSU Health Network and serves as a clinical preceptor as time allows.
Participates on appropriate CSU Health Network and University committees.
Other duties as assigned.
Possession of a master’s level degree as an advanced practice nurse.
National nurse practitioner certification as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner.
Possession of a current Colorado nursing license, or the ability to obtain one.
Possession of Advanced Practice Nursing registration in Colorado, or the ability to obtain it.
Possession of a current DEA number for authorization of prescriptive privileges.
Possession of Colorado Nurse Practitioner Prescriptive Authority, or the ability to obtain it.
Three years working as a family or adult nurse practitioner in a primary care setting.
Experience in Supervision/management of nurses and nurse practitioners in a primary care setting for 2 or more years.
Experience working in college health.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge and experience working with diverse populations.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
Interest in the wellness of students and their family members and respect for the role of patients in the decision-making process.
Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary health care delivery setting.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with policies of the CSU Health Network, Colorado State University, state, federal and HIPAA requirements.
Experience in use of electronic health records.
Salary: $91,000 to $96,000. Commensurate with education and experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package including vacation and sick leave
Starting Date: As soon as possible after the search process is completed.
