POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Financial Services is responsible for hiring of employees for their areas, performance evaluations and disciplinary action including dismissal when appropriate. They are responsible for establishing expectations for all of their staff and defining the expected outcomes, determining the support, skill set and competencies needed for the roles. They are responsible for resource acquisition thereby assuring their staff has the materials and equipment to be successful in their jobs. They are responsible for staff development and identifying the strengths of their staff and supporting them in being successful in their jobs. They are responsible for coaching, mentoring staff and recognizing the excellence of their staff. The Director is intrinsically driven, always looking for ways to expand their own knowledge base and is able to see the greater purpose for which their efforts are a part. They must be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills in all aspects of their role including utilizing data to weigh alternatives and searching for solutions outside of the box. They must have a talent for overcoming resistance to change, be emotionally intelligent and able to build strong relationships with internal and external customers.
The Director is responsible for directing the day-to-day activities of the Finance department. They also have responsibility for directing the hospital’s revenue cycle through direct report Managers who oversee the day-to-day activities of the Registration, Centralized Scheduling, Communications, Business Services, and Health Information Management departments.
REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting, and five plus years of progressively more responsible related work experience are required. Three years prior Supervisory/Managerial experience in Financial Services preferred. Revenue cycle management experience preferred. Strong computer skills and experience with the Epic Information System preferred. Graduate studies in accounting and/or CPA certification and active membership in the Healthcare Financial Management Association are preferred.
