Compass Group's Levy Restaurants has been expanding its presence in sports and entertainment catering, acquiring the concessions business at Chicago's United Center in 2009. Its Eurest Services unit, meanwhile, expanded its business facilities offerings that year by purchasing Illinois-based KIMCO Corporation.
The company has also been boosting its healthcare offerings. Its Crothall Services grew its healthcare support services business the previous year by acquiring Colorado-based Medi-Dyn, a provider of hospital housekeeping contract management services. Compass also provides support services to Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, one of the oldest and largest teaching hospitals in the US.
In addition to its dining and foodservices subsidiaries, Compass Group operates contract and corporate dining services through a partnership with Thompson Hospitality, and it owns a 90% stake in Wolfgang Puck Catering, an event planning venture with the celebrity chef.
Food is not everything the company provides. Its Crothall Services Group offers janitorial and environmental services, laundry and linen care, patient transportation, clinical equipment services, and facilities management to firms in the healthcare, education, business, and industrial sectors in the US. – less
