Subsidiaries PBT Telecom and PBT Communications (acquired in 2004) were rebranded with the Comporium name in 2010. The company traces its roots back to more than 100 years of providing communications services to customers in York and Lancaster counties.
In response to market demand, the company has branched out into data center services such as network security and server management through its investment in Greenville-based managed hosting services provider Immedion. Comporium also offers a wireless security monitoring and automation system through its investment in iControl.
In a bid to keep pace with competitors by offering higher-quality television transmission service, Comporium upgraded its legacy analog cable network to a digital system in 2009. The investment enabled the company to offer key channels such as FOX News and TBS in high definition (HD), and it added additional digital sports programming such as the Big Ten Network. – less
