About Computershare

It's 10:00 PM -- do you know where your share values are? Computershare can probably help. The company provides investor services for some 30,000 corporations and more than 100 million shareholders around the world. Offerings include share registration, employee equity plans, fund services, and proxy solicitations. Founded in Australia in 1978, Computershare – more... has, through numerous acquisitions, become one the largest share registry providers in the world. Today, North America accounts for approximately half of the company's revenues. Computershare has about 50 offices in Asia, Australia, North America, Europe, and Africa.

The company's recent international purchases include European software and services firms Interactive Meetings Limited, ADM Group, and Datacare Software Group. In North America, Computershare has acquired the stock transfer businesses of SunTrust Banks, National Bank of Canada, and UMB Financial. In 2009 Computershare acquired US-based support services firm Kurtzman Carson Consultants (KCC), which serves companies undergoing bankruptcy or other reorganizations. (The following year, KCC expanded with the acquisition of class action settlement administrator Rosenthal & Company.)

Computershare continues to seek other acquisition opportunities around the world to strengthen its service capabilities. In 2011 it bought Australian utilities services group Serviceworks and US mortgage servicing firm Specialized Loan Servicing. The additions further expand Computershare's service capabilities and customer base.

In 2010 Computershare transferred the assets of its North American employee stock option plan business to Solium Capital in exchange for a 20% stake in the publicly traded Canadian firm.

The following year Computershare arranged its biggest acquisition to date when it agreed to buy BNY Mellon Shareowner Services, a provider of stock transfer services in the US. The $550 million transaction, which closed in early 2012, broadens Computershare's client base and provides the company with new opportunities serving corporations. – less
