Working at ConAgra Foods

Every business has it's own style. What is the office environment and culture like at ConAgra Foods? Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers? What is a typical day in the life of an employee at ConAgra Foods?

Do you work at ConAgra Foods? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview? Any advice for someone trying to get in?

What do you think -- is this company going to survive and thrive? Are they looking to expand their staff, or do you think layoffs are inevitable? How does ConAgra Foods stack up against the competition?

I went for an interview here a couple of months ago for this position. The controller was busy with month end and couldn't meet with me. That is incredibly unprofessional! The building was a run down 70s brown colored box, horrible.

I had an interview with them and a couple of weeks later they sent me a letter back saying that I did not meet their "qualifications", not just that they had selected someone else, which would have been understandable. I had applied for a Production position, having been doing related production work for the past four years. They are always hiring, which makes me wonder. I guess I should have suspected I would not get the position when I walked into the plant and it was three-fourths hispanics, who probably weren't even fluent in English, like the ones I work with now. It's intriguing how these companies have all have these "qualifications", but speaking English and being able to communicate with coworkers isn't one of them.

It's always hard to know what to expect when going in for that interview -- and preparation can make all the difference. What is the interview process like at ConAgra Foods? Any advice on striking the right note?
