Help Desk Technician / Computer Support Specialist Job Summary

This is a part time position responsible for the day-to-day Desktop, VoIP, and Datacenter support in Houston, TX and other offices. Help Desk Technician / Computer Support Specialist will work on tasks assigned by desktop manager.

Help Desk Technician / Computer Support Specialist Essential Job Functions

Install, upgrade, and configure workstations
Help Desk Technician / Computer Support Specialist will provide assistance with trouble-shooting of software/hardware/telecom problems
Assist with the breakdown, relocation, and setup of workstations to accommodate users relocation's, site relocation's, site remodels, and any new location installation
Help Desk Technician / Computer Support Specialist will maintain secure patch levels on workstations as needed
Hard drive data retrieval (using third party tools to retrieve information from damage drives) as needed
Support local departmental business applications (eg AS/400)
Help Desk Technician / Computer Support Specialist will assist other groups within IT (i.e., Datacenter) in troubleshooting problems and/or equipment set-up

Job Requirements

Help Desk Technician / Computer Support Specialist Desired Skills & Experience

Education:

Some college or equivalent education

Work Experience:

1-3 years of computer (desktop) support

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities for Help Desk Technician / Computer Support Specialist:

Top troubleshooting skill, team-building approach and customer service oriented
Experience working with Microsoft Office products
Familiarity with most common desktop/laptop software and hardware systems
Experience in troubleshooting and configuring Windows based networked PC
Familiarity with network protocols and configurations (TCP/IP, LAN, WAN)
Active Directory, Windows Server 2000 and higher, basic understanding of DNS, and DHCP
Mac OS X experience a plus
VoIP system (Cisco) experience a plus

Physical Requirements for Help Desk Technician / Computer Support Specialist:

Must be able to move items weighing at least 50lbs.

Work Conditions:

Office and warehouse environment. May require weekend and evening hours
