Cookeville Regional Medical Center (CRMC) serves east-central potions of Tennessee. Specialty units include The Heart Center (cardiac rehabilitation), The Cancer Center (cancer treatment), and The Spine Center (spinal surgery). Other services include physical therapy, neurology, vascular surgery, pediatrics, and critical care. Founded in 1950, the community hospital has about 250 inpatient beds and more than 200 physicians with 40 specialties on its medical staff. CRMC opened a new 30-bed behavioral health unit in 2012; it also acquired nearby Cumberland River Hospital (offering acute care, skilled nursing, and home health services) that year. The Foundation at CRMC provides fundraising and charity programs.
The hospital is undergoing expansion efforts, including the 2008 completed construction of a new six-story patient tower that includes an expanded cancer unit and intensive care unit. – less
