Close Brothers Group plc is the parent company of a group of companies engaged in financial services. It operates through four divisions. The asset management division focuses on private clients and funds. The banking division focuses on asset-based lending mainly in the United Kingdom and also in Germany. The securities division has two principal trading companies: Winterflood Securities Limited, a liquidity provider in the London retail market, and Close Brothers Seydler AG, a broker dealer in domestic and international bonds and equities. In October 2007, the Company acquired 49.9% of Mako, a market-maker in exchange-traded equity, fixed income and commodity index derivatives. In August 2008, it announced the acquisition of Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander Premium Finance Ltd.
