Payroll Specialist II/Administration Assistant, Charlotte, NC - May 15, 2017
Great working atmosphere and staff is very helpful and friendly. You will learn something new everyday. Training is not up to par as it should be and there is much you will not know until having to do it for customers. Hours are not consistent and may vary on a daily basis, so its a must that you have open availability. Although the hours are 9-5:30, you don't leave until everyone is finished for the day in the office. There have been days were we've been in the office well after 5:30, some days until 8 or after. There is not much room for career advancement at smaller branches due to there only being the branch manager position and processor/poster positions. Therefore if its filled, you will remain stagnant in the position currently held. If hired as full time, you do accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) which is helpful but you really are not able to use it unless there's an emergency. You do not receive any vacation time as a full-time employee. The pay is not the best. Starting pay is at $12.00 no matter your experience and you are eligible for a yearly raise. The job itself is not hard in my opinion as you will learn new things on a daily basis. This too, can be the best part of the job as well if you're wanting to educate yourself. The most enjoyable part of the job is that it is very laid back and you do have weekends off. Since working here, I've learned a lot when it comes to payroll, taxes, 401k/simple ira plans, etc and still learning. I would've given a better rating if the pay was much more than what it is for the job you do and there was more room for career advancement within the company.
