Job Title: Housekeeping Supervisor
Reports To: General Manager
The Housekeeping Inspector and supervises the housekeeping staff. This person is accountable for their performance to ensure that their time and supplies are spent cost effectively, is accountable for their performance, and makes certain that the finest in hospitality and service is not compromised in any of these areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
a) Personally operates the Housekeeping department.
b) Keeps accurate records of all maintenance requests and ensures that routine preventative maintenance is completed.
c) Train, hire and fire department personnel. Responsible for each new employee’s New Hire Packet. Records employee performance issues.
d) Supervise housekeeping department so that each room is thoroughly cleaned upon checkout of guests, common areas kept clean at all times, continental breakfast area is attended to, and the pool area is kept clean and free of dirty towels and garbage at all times.
e) Ensures each staff member is given an authorized uniform and that it is worn consistently.
f) Informs the General Manager of any unexplained dirty rooms or unexplained occupied rooms.
g) Keeps in contact with the Front Desk staff. Informs Front Desk of stayovers, checkouts, and enters in Vacant Ready rooms.
h) Make sure that someone thoroughly cleans any late checkouts and cleans all units whenever a maid is unavailable.
i) Ensures that the grounds are kept clean and neat at all times.
j) Ensures that the driveways and approaches are maintained.
k) Comply with all ordinances and requirements of the City, County, State, Federal or other regulatory authorities.
l) Supervise Housekeeping so that they wash and dry all rugs, bathmats, towels, washcloths, blankets, bedspreads, sheets, pillowcases, etc. and that they are using proper cleaning supplies, detergents and related chemicals that best clean the above items.
m) Is responsible for Housekeeping scheduling. Ensures that each position (Housemen, Laundry, Inspector) is covered daily and schedules the appropriate number of Room Cleaners. Schedules employees according to allocations and demand.
n) Is responsible for the ordering of all Housekeeping supplies: towels, linens, toiletries, all cleaning supplies, everything that is stocked in the rooms.
o) Tracks individual minutes per room for each Room Cleaner daily. Tracks minutes per room for all the Room Cleaners combined daily. Follows up with any cleaners who go over 30 minutes per room.
p) Operate said Hotel in such a manner as to maintain its current Country Inn rating.
q) Do all other management procedures as suggested by “the Employer”
Directly supervises the Housekeeping Staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training of the Housekeeping Employees. Also included is planning, scheduling, directing work, assisting Assistant General Manager in office duties, appraising performance, addressing complaints and solving problems.
One to Two-years prior experience as a housekeeping Inspector, or supervisory experience in some cleaning environment capacity.
To perform this job successfully, individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.
Ability to read and interpret documents write/type reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with all employees, management, and ownership.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and drew valid conclusions.
