Plant maintenance is lacking, the equipment is very antiquated.

Pros: plenty of overtime.
Cons: exsisting safety deficiencies, old equipment.
Covanta seems like a good company, but they have inherited a problematic plant. The safety culture is lacking. The supervisors do not motivate the employees in any fashion.

hard work in a dusty hot dirty inviorment

Pros: close to home, compensation
Cons: clear comunication, management support, management inexpierence.
morning meeting then work orders are passed out, lots of dirt and ash on everything. this is because of the 2, seven story boilers that burn municiple waste (garbage) to boil water that makes steam that turns a turbin to produces electricity that is sold to PG&E. the work is dificult and there is a lot of required overtime and you are required to be – more...  on call but the hardest part of the job is being able to work with the recent change in managment it was a complete change from plant manager and cheif engineer and maintenance manager. this change in managment has created disaray in the maintenace and electrical departments. – less

Pros: the money was great !!!!!!!!!!!!
Cons: was only a temp assighnment
Loved working hear people were great money was awsome would of loved to be permenant there !!!!! was a little dirty there but dont mind getting dirty at all.The hrs were perfect 7am to 4pm had a life was able to enjoy seeing my kids and could easly have plenty of time to relax !!!!
