Great company with many opportunities for growth
Supervisor, Service Ops (Current Employee), St. Louis, MO –
Pros: growth opportunies, fair compensation, excellent benefits
Cons: none so far
I work for MHNet a subsidiary of Coventry and I love it. The company treats its employees fairly and sets realistic expectations of its employees. The benefits provided are excellent and include health dental vision 401k and tuition assistance. Overall, I have had a great experience within Coventry thus far. One of the MHNet reviews is simply not true. – more...  There are plenty of advancement opportunities within the company and hiring practices for those positions are fair and balanced. My supervisor is easy to work for and does not micro manage. I highly recommend working for Coventry. – less

Be careful...
Manager (Former Employee), Kentucky –
Pros: nice office location
Cons: long hours, no joy
CoventryCares of Kentucky has had a lot of bad press - I would read the newspapers & check out their lawsuits before jumping into this quagmire. Micro -management, eventually lots of firings, poor morale.

Could be better
Manager (Former Employee), Pittsburgh, PA –
Pros: good comp package
Cons: more stressful that it needs to be
Coventry could be such a good place to work if they would focus more on allowing their managers/supervisors to actually perform their job. The environment can be stressful and unproductive. There is alot of crisis management and not alot of planning. The comp package for managers is good, but the benefits are expensive and have high co-pays. If you're – more...  looking for something where you can explore your potential, this might not be the place for you. Some departments are structured better than others, but expect to work a lot of hours if you are in a management capacity. Should be noted that moral tends to run on the low side due to previously mentioned items. It really could be a good place to work if they restructured and applied rules/processes consistantly across the board. – less

Frustrating place to work
Customer Communications Specialist (Former Employee), Franklin, TN –
Pros: steady job
Cons: breaks and lunch change daily, constantly increasing information documented, no additional time to document, difficult to arrange time off vacations or dr.
Answering telephone calls for work comp billing. Learned all aspects of billing and coding for bills. Management is completely top down, little action on ideas, suggestions. Co workers generally good, little time to interact. Hardest part, trying to figure what management wants documented this day as opposed to last. Enjoyed speaking with people all – more...  over the country and working resolutions to problems. – less

A result driven organization with little consideration for employees and work/life balance.
Manager, Appeals and Grievance (Former Employee), Richmond, VA –
Pros: good employees
Cons: work/life balance, upper level management
This position required the manager to take on too many resposibiities and would not provide help after it was asked for. Balancing all work priorities became a job within the job and forced many projects to go untouched for long periods of time. Upper leve management is very reactive to what has happened and not proactive to keep issues from popping – more...  up in the first place. – less

Great place to work
Associate Customer Service Specialist (Former Employee), Bismarck, ND –
Pros: benefits start on first day
Cons: micro managing
Great hours and excellent starting pay. Benefits and insurance start building up the day you start employment. Great work environment always had everything i needed readily available for me. Inbound calls relating to health insurance such as benefit and claim inquires. All the calls can be monitored and you are graded on random calls each month. You – more...  also have units to meet each day, how many calls you take averaged out with the amount of correspondence you worked and also how many hours you were logged into the phone. Coventry was fun, miss the girls i worked with and the fun customer service appreciation days we had. There was some favoritism and some micro managing issues but over all i really enjoyed working there. – less

Negotiation physician and ancillary contracts from small to larger groups
Provider Contracting Specialist (Current Employee), Burlington, MA –
Pros: exposure to contract negotiations on all levels
Cons: excellant training, travel, exposure
I got exposed to contract negotiations for all product lines i.e. Group Health, Auto and Work Comp. I will never forget my first contact that I negotiated, finally arrived, it was like Christmas morning all over. The adrenaline rush you feel when you actually have the final product in your hands and ready for signature. All those longs hours at the – more...  negotiation table finally paid off when you can load the contract into your system. – less

Corporate Clinical Trainer (Current Employee), St. Louis, MO –
I believe that this is a wonderful company to work for. There are many opportunities for advancement, for those that choose to take advantage of them. The jobs are stable, despite recent news reports of otherwise. My experience with management is that they are flexible, honest, and approachable.

Mid-range company
Underwriting (Former Employee), Harrisburg –
Pros: on site cafeteria, benefits were competitive
Cons: management knowledge and professionalism
When I started, it was a good place to work, but, things change. No chance for advancement regardless of contributions to the company or knowledge of the industry. It could offer a better work/life balance, but that part was okay.

Lack of Company Pride
Customer Communications Specialist (Former Employee), Houston, TX –
Pros: stock options, fun place to work although often stressful
Cons: lack of moral, additional responsibility without pay
The company did an awesome job creating a work place in which people truly loved to be apart of, however there was 0 since of pride. For example we celebrated all holidays with decorations and a company provided lunch/dinner however we did not received any goodies with the company name on it.
