Field Merchandiser, Reston, VA - December 15, 2015
It was good for me to work independently. I had one contact usually who was my supervisor but rarely on site. I liked the freedom to set my own schedule and operate in the area as I saw fit. Sometimes there was too much or not enough work, as it seems to be seasonal. Merchandising is good work if you are very efficient and dedicated as well as lucky with landing a bunch of assignments in one area and grouping them according to a strategy. Some people work for multiple companies and do mystery shops and such. I wished there had been more company interaction, such as a merchandiser's union, company picnic or really any room for advancement. It would also have been good to have team members available for more than routine assignments. Getting together with other contractors for work proved to be a bit tricky at times.
