SELF-STORAGE MANAGER/CSR (Customer Service Representative)

Cranney Companies, a successful 30+ year old Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC company is seeking an upbeat, energetic and outgoing person to be part of our Home Services Division. As Manager of Cranney Self-Storage and as Cranney Home Services CSR, you will be responsible for splitting time between an office environment and outside work tasks. Performing a wide range of services – incorporating interpersonal skills and administrative support, your position will serve as the key role to ensure customer retention and revenue growth.

Duties and Responsibilities

Consistently practices effective customer service techniques through:

  • Maintaining the daily operations of the storage facility while providing quality customer service in a pleasant, knowledgeable and professional manner, including-greeting customers in a prompt and friendly way
  • Maximizing the potential of turning telephone calls and walk-in inquiries into rentals
  • Knowing and presenting the features and benefits of the property at all times
  • Keeping accurate updated records (contracts, personal information and insurance)
  • Resolving customer complaints or disputes in a timely and effective manner ex) payments,concerns
  • Monitoring the security system and performing lock and leak checks daily of all storage units (will be primary contact for sounding alarms)
  • Effectively directing maintenance workers to assist with successful running of the facility and accomplishment of duties

Maintains appropriate financial controls and achieves them by:

  • Selling units for rental and additional products to existing customers while being able to accurately handle cash transactions
  • Posting payments and processing daily bank deposits correctly and in a timely fashion
  • Monitoring accurate merchandise inventory (may include ordering supplies) and compiling assigned reports and projects correctly and timely
  • Participating in mailing invoices, including past due notices, collecting past due accounts and e-mailing receipts of payment confirmation (1st of the month responsibilities include processing customer credit cards to collect monthly fees)


  • College degree preferred and at least 2 years of related experience and/or training in direct sales, retail and/or customer service
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with minimum direct supervision and/or operate effectively in a team environment
  • Have a positive attitude even when handling challenging situations under pressure
  • Possess solid basic math skills with the ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to master new software and programs when needed
  • Experience supervising others
  • Be pro-active and adaptable


Physical Requirements
Requirements representative of those met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job

  • Must be able to stand, or sit for extended periods of time; walk, reach, kneel, crouch, or crawl; climb; and balance
  • Lifting and/or moving up to 35 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pound
