Crestron Electronics doesn't mind if its customers have control issues. The company provides hardware and software used to control and automate audio and video systems, as well as computer networks, security systems, and environmental systems such as temperature and lighting. Its products include amplifiers, controllers, management software, remotes, touch panels, tuners, cabling, and cabinet enclosures. It markets to consumers, as well as businesses, government agencies, hospitals, and schools; the company's commercial customers include airports, hotels and casinos, museums, restaurants, and retailers. Crestron, which has more than 90 offices worldwide, is owned by the founding Feldstein family.
Crestron does most of its own manufacturing at two plants in New Jersey. It has an integrated partnership program which encourages other manufacturers to make products that will operate seamlessly with Crestron control systems. Its partners come from diverse industries, making everything from audio and video equipment to HVAC systems, lighting, draperies, and spas. Some of the company's partners include Armstrong World Industries, Audio-Technica, Barco, Belkin, Bosch Security, Bose, CANON U.S.A., Honeywell, Panasonic, and TiVo, among many others.
Crestron offers integration software that allows its residential products to be controlled with an Apple iPhone or Macintosh computer. Users can also connect their iPod media players to home networks to play music, movies, and other content from their iTunes libraries. – less
