Crown Point Ecology Center is green space that matters – a biologically diverse living laboratory that serves to demonstrate practical applications of ecology. The 115-acre Crown Point farmland in Bath, Ohio is a regional model for sustainable agriculture and environmental education. We believe that ecological land stewardship encourages structural and social change through local food production, positive impacts on the environment, health of our citizens, and local economic development. The mission of Crown Point is to demonstrate the practical applications of ecology and to connect spirituality, social justice and environmental protection. We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to serve as our Executive Director; someone who will embrace our mission, adopt and lead our strategic plan and advance our cause in the community.
Manage a staff of 6-8 people and up to 15 during peak growing season, in a manner that promotes
teambuilding and open communication.
Manage an annual operating budget as well as a multi-year capital improvement budget.
Provide strategic direction to the organization and its board; be a liaison between board and staff.
Build the financial stability of the organization through entrepreneurial and philanthropic efforts.
Oversee, maintain and grow development efforts with foundations, corporations and individual donors.
Oversee a variety of programs including farming, and youth and adult education.
Oversee fund raising events including an annual plant sale and dinner the “Taste of Earth.”
Manage communications vehicles including a newsletter, website, online social media, email and direct mail.
Be the organization's face and voice to the community.
A hands-on leader; excellent decision maker with a minimum of three years leadership, management,
Strong organizational skills.
Strong writing and communications skills, including public speaking.
Familiarity with budgeting and organizational accounting.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize.
Grant writing, fundraising and development experience with an ability to research and identify grant/funding
Capable of critical assessment of programming.
Three to five years experience in land-based projects including environmental systems and sustainable
agriculture, and environmental site planning.
Demonstrated passion and commitment for ecology, environmental education, spirituality and social justice.
Bachelor's degree minimum.
Familiarity with the local/regional community and the ability to network.
Experience with strategic planning.
Evidence of experience in community engagement and/or with religious congregations.
Experience with organic agriculture and/or environmental education.
