Position Summary

Assist the Controller and Assistant Controller in performing all of the detailed tasks necessary to maintain the Company's accounting systems. Assist with the monthly closing process, including monitoring budget to actual results. Participate in the completion of a variety of ad-hoc projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform review procedures on the quarterly SEC filings and assist the Assistant Controller with coordinating and overseeing the monthly and quarterly closing process.
  • Perform a second review of budget to actual differences on a monthly basis to determine if re-classes, accruals, prepayments or capitalizations of costs are necessary and provide training and guidance to staff accountants.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process and creation of periodic budget revisions.
  • Record journal entries and review all journal entries prepared by the Staff Accountants.
  • Prepare the more complex account reconciliations and review all reconciliations prepared by the Staff Accountants.
  • Prepare the more complex monthly financial statements including the cash flow statement and financial summary.
  • Prepare quarterly analyses explaining the change in certain key income statement and balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual tax information for the external tax accountants for provision support, tax return preparation and tax notice resolution.
  • Track spending of governmental grants and prepare appropriate filings.
  • Supervise annual and ad-hoc projects, including the annual R&D tax credit project and the annual 401(k) audit and related Form 5500.
  • Assist in preparing accounting research memos and the more complex analyses.
  • Assist in review of Sarbanes-Oxley documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Business Administration in Accounting and knowledge of technical accounting issues are required.
  • 3 years of public accounting or 5+ years of industry experience are required. Big 4 experience is a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Master's degree or CPA candidate is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Experience with SAP and Microsoft Word is a plus.
  • Ability to work well in a team and to respond to the changing needs of the organization due to rapid growth and a rapidly changing industry.
