Wonderful Place to Learn and Grow
Executive Assistant/Financial Administrator (Former Employee), Eddystone, PA – May 16, 2013
Hired as the Receptionist at CSI I was afforded the opportunity to take my career in whatever direction I had the willingness to learn. I worked my way through the receptionist position to an Administrative Assistant, to an Executive Assistant and finally I moved into the financial area of the company and was able to achieve the position of Financial – more... Administrator. This was a great group of people, the office environment was always full of laughter which made all the hard work worthwhile. – less

Part-Time Appt. Setter (Former Employee), Wayne, NJ – March 5, 2013
Pros: 15 minute breaks, know one screaming at you to work faster
Cons: short working shifts.
I enjoyed working at this call center because I believed in a special cause: helping people that need help, helping adults and children that are disabled. I believe in Saving Lives! I was being paid of course, but most of all I received job gratification.

The CSI Company
Consumer Lending New Loan Set-up (Former Employee), Nashville, TN – November 14, 2012
Pros: the people
Cons: not a permanent job
I worked as a contracted employee at Suntrust bank. I loved my job. In a typical day, I would come in, get the loan applications from the fax machine and key them into the computer. I would do this for about 2 hours. Then I would go to the mailroom and get the department mail. After delivering the mail to the various members of our department, I would – more... process more loan applications or work on "return mail". I would check the return mail for updated addresses or search the client's name and id for updated addresses. I would then process the mail to be sent back out to the clients. I also would process the "closing" packages for loans. I wuould highlight where signatures were needed and send a copy for the client and one for the closing and then fedex those packages to the client. There was nothing hard about this job, except the knowledge that it was a permanent position. The most enjoyable was the people. Everyone there was usually in a good mood and always made me feel like a part of the team. – less

Great learning and productive environment
Accounting Intern (Former Employee), Fort Lee, NJ – September 12, 2012
Pros: company provided lunches, worked at own desk
Cons: lack of upward mobility, focused on keeping the company a family business
I worked closely with the CFO and the Accounting Department at CSI Corp. to work on daily tasks and any projects assigned by the CFO. The CFO assigned a daily update of the Bank Reconciliation for one of the bank accounts to helps me learn and practice what the Bank Rec is outside of what I would learn in class. In addition, I would be working on a – more... project that the CFO would task me with, for example I worked on auditing a list of auditing manual checks because the Payroll Department had a big problem of compensating many Union workers. I was also able to learn how to post entries in the books and in the general ledger through a program on the computer. I also learned how to use the concepts that I learned in class in real life situations. I learned about reversing entries and accruals in class, but being able to use the respective program to post entries to reverse accruals was very interesting to learn. Also, I learned about credit memos in class, but I never really understood what or how a credit memo looked until I dealt with credit memos by creating invoices for the respective credit memos. Management was very friendly to work with and also very helpful to work with. The CFO really tried to teach me basic accounting skills and to help me practice very basic accounting tasks. My co-workers and fellow interns were also very helpful, friendly, and hard-working. The working environment was very comfortable to work with and not so intimidating as I initially thought.

The hardest part of the job was letting down my pride and asking questions from people for help. My weaknesses are having too much pride to ask for help and my initial shyness. In the beginning, when I am trying to get comfortable with the environment, I am very shy and not as outgoing for the few 2 or 3 weeks. Also, during this time, I especially feel like I need to prove myself so I do not try to ask for help until the last resort because I want to figure out how to work and solve the problem by myself. However, through this internship, I had learned that it was not disadvantageous for me to ask the CFO or the Accounting Department for help if I needed some guidance on the current project I was working on or for the daily bank rec, when I could not get both the book and bank numbers to match. On the other hand though, the most enjoyable part of the job was the fact that I was learning and exercising the material that I learned in class. Before this internship, I wasn't sure that accounting was the right direction for me. I just finished up my junior year about to start my challenging senior year as an Accounting Major, and I was not sure that accounting was the right path for me because the material I learned my classes were so dry and boring and uninteresting. However, after this internship, my thoughts had changed. I thought accounting was a very crucial part to the company. I learned that to some extent, accounting is really different in the real-world compared to the material we learned in our classes and what we read in our textbooks. I really enjoyed posting invoices, journal entries, general ledger entries, reverse accrual entries, auditing manual checks, etc. I really learned to enjoy what I was doing. In addition, I learned how to really time manage myself between all the tasks and projects that I was working on. My strengths are that I am hard-working and I believe that I am a fast learner. – less
