Tons of room for advancement, but unappreciative of hardwork
Shift Supervisor (Current Employee), Greenville, SC – May 24, 2013
As an assistant CVS, I am expected to provide excellent customer service, supervise clerks and the store, and deal with manager paperwork. This job taught me patience and how to supervise others. Unfortunately, store managers are constantly being moved around and tend to be unprepared for the job when assigned a store, which makes it hard to be an assistant – more... manager, but I love working with customers. – less

Growing Pharmacy
Manager (Former Employee), Philadelphia, PA – May 23, 2013
Pros: a lot of opportunity.
Cons: culture changed with growth.
Typical pharmacy work environment. Learned a lot about customer service, organization, and teamwork. Co-workers was a delight. Hardest part was exceeding goals. The most enjoyable was working for a company that doubled in growth.

Ok for a college student
Pharmacy Technician (Current Employee), Huntsville, TX – May 23, 2013
Pros: employee discount
Cons: do not pay well
I work as a pharmacy tech. It is a good job, for a college student. You can make decent money to put yourself through college. CVS pays very little for the amount of work you do. The rate that you get paid is not even near the market rate. The performance pay raises are small. They love to give you more responsibility but they will ony pay you for it. – more... This is only my view. I enjoyed the people I met. I have made friendships with customers and co-workers. I like the 20% employee discountl. – less

not fulfilling place to work
Customer Service (Former Employee), Meadville, PA – May 23, 2013
Pros: nice lunch break
Cons: same routine day after day
wait on customers and stock shelves all day long
learned that having the same routine every single day is not for me.
management was constantly changing.
co-workers were sometimes hard to work with, some people who had been there for longer than you thought that they never had to wait on customers and always would hide in the stock room.

Good for those without a choice.
Pharmacy Technician (Current Employee), Williamstown, NJ – May 21, 2013
From an employee's stand-point, CVS/Pharmacy has changed dramatically within the last decade. A typical work day involves a high amount of communication within the pharmacy as well as with costumers. At times the workload can be overwhelming, especially at a 24-hour store. The hardest part about this job is insurance processing. The most enjoyable part – more... of this job is working closely with other co-workers. – less

Retail wasn't for me
Shift Supervisor (Former Employee), Garfield, NJ – May 21, 2013
Management was not watching the store and assisting in keeping things in order. When sales dropped they cut the hours of those who needed the hours.

A steady job
Shift Supervisor (Current Employee), Warwick, RI, Boston, MA and North Kingstown, RI – May 21, 2013
In my time at CVS I have learned to perfect my customer service and leadership skills. Everyday is a new and different challenge. I have worked in urban, suburban and rural stores and in each store there are always people to please. Often my coworkers become the people I focus on whether they are dealing with personal or professional issues the supervisor – more... is the direct manager of the cashier therefore I am who they go to when needing advice. I have helped with college applications, personality conflicts, and further professional training. The people are what makes CVS rewarding. – less

Get ready to work like a machine
Pharmacy Technician (Former Employee), Ventura, CA – May 20, 2013
Pros: good pharm experience
Cons: this company has no soul or morals
I got good experience working with drugs in pharmacy to prepare me for my career as an RN but this company will work you to the bone. They never admitted to being "understaffed" albeit intentionally. They always insited we were "under trained" i.e. just didn't work fast enough. Expextations are unrealistic there but that's likely why they are so profitable.
