CVS Pharmacy
Pharmacists Intern (Former Employee), Jacksonville, FL – May 19, 2013
A typical day at work was very , very busy. The CVS I worked at was a very large volume store. I learned how to work at a fast pace, while maintaining patient safety and integrity of the product. I also learned how to diffuse and deal with difficult customers. My co-workers were very focused and intent on serving all the customers with equal respect. – more... The hardest part of the job was learning to manipulate and understand insurance issues some were easier than others, but learning why this or that was rejected and how to fix it in the system was confusing. The most enjoyable part of the job was participating in a team that I knew would make a difference with patients. – less

Overall CVS is a good workplace. I would like to work more one on one with patients and work less like a fast food chain.

Great Pharmacy!
Extern (Former Employee), Ontario, CA – May 17, 2013
Pros: great management and customers.
Cons: i havent't learned everything that i should have.
My first thought to CVS was that they were strict and I was right. So many mistakes I made in the beginning, but they were patient enough for me to learn it in my own way. Not only have I learned to be a better pharmacy technician in training, but I have also learned to be a better employee to not only the customers, but the pharmacy itself. i wished – more... I have stayed longer, but the externship only allowed me to stay for only a little over a month. Thank you for the experience and hope that the pharmacist, pharmacy technician, and clerks have a great time being there. – less

Learned pharmacy skills from experienced professional
Pharmacy Intern (Former Employee), Rochester, NY – May 17, 2013
Pros: experienced, community-respected staff, ample opportunity to hone pharmacy skills, good compensation, flexible hours for a student, valuable training modules, ability to help patients
Cons: understaffed at times
CVS pharmacy taught me the ups and downs of community pharmacy. I was able to learn all essential pharmacy positions from an experienced staff and given the freedom to operate freely. I was also able to learn the benefit of "work flow" and how the sharing of responsibilities makes the pharmacy run at a higher level. Talking to prescribers and counseling – more... patients developed my communication skills. Learning different business metrics helped to understand the business side of pharmacy operation. Learning and implenting patient care initiatives helped me to better connect my therapeutic knowledge to everyday work. Inventory management and ordering showed me more in depth how a pharmacy has to run. – less

Fast paced and entertaining job
Pharmacy Technician (Former Employee), Tuscaloosa, AL – May 16, 2013
Input and fill prescriptions. Kept pharmacy clean and organized. Communicated with customers and insurance companies. Co-workers are inviting and friendly. The hardest part of the job was learning to deal with angry and frustrated customers. The most enjoyable part of working in a pharmacy is that there are rarely dull moments. There is always something – more... to do and you constantly learn new things. – less

A productive place to work and very professional
Pharmacy Technician (Former Employee), College Park, GA – May 16, 2013
Pros: one hour lunch breaks and two 15 minute breaks
Cons: dealing with rude customers but knowing how to be professional.
Working extremely hard to satisfy the customers needs and the company. I've learned so much working for the company like working together as one and learning more skills along the way.And if you make the customers happy you make the company happy.Management was very professional. The hardest part working as a pharmacy technician was well really nothing – more... at all.I really enjoyed that the company was family first. – less

Productive and Good Workers
Customer Service (Current Employee), Phoenix, AZ – May 16, 2013
Pros: requested days off are most likely to be given off
Cons: when an emergency comes up no matter sick, hospitalized for a day you can't call in.
My day at work consist of being the cashier and helping customers find items in the store. I do have good co-workers. I've learned that even on your roughest days you can make the best out of it no matter what kind of customers you get. The management at work I would say needs to really be managed by the store manager and treat everyone the same. The – more... most enjoyable part of my day is seeing my regular customer and having that friendly relaionship tht always makes them feel like home where they want to return. – less

Worst place to work
Lead Cashier (Former Employee), Lake Forest, CA – May 15, 2013
Pros: build good relationships with regular customers.
Cons: short to no breaks, poor management, pay sucks, hours suck, etc..
Working at CVS was the worst job I have ever had. Poor management, supervisors were gossipers, store manager always told me I was replaceable, constantly threatened to fire me. Horrible hours, horrible pay. Leaving CVS was the best decision I made.

CVS Pharmacy
Shift Supervisor (Current Employee), New York, NY – May 15, 2013
Pros: flexibility in scheduling, paid vacation, sick days.
Cons: low pay, always cutting hours so staffing is always short.
CVS has been my employer since 2005. Its a fast paced work environment that not everyone is capable of handling. You must be able to multitask with a small staff. Answer phones, help employees and customers, check in vendors, all while conducting your manager duties. CVS is flexible as far as scheduling goes. Ive worked day, mid, evening, and overnight – more... shifts, sometimes all in the same work week. If your in school CVS is a great place to work because they work with you.
Workers don't last to long but those that can handle the job stick around for years like myself and become very familiar with all the departments with the company.
Money is not great unless you become an assistant or store manager. – less

It was a good place to start your fist work experience
Pharmacy, Pharmacy Technician (Former Employee), Morton Grove, IL – May 15, 2013
It would be really busy and customers are not always welcoming nor are some of the individuals you work with. Otherwise my other co-workers were great to work with, because we always helped each other when needed. However pharmacy management was great, but since it is a retail pharmacy the store management was not as great.

A friendly workplace with really good customer service skills
Cashier (Current Employee), Kansas City, kS – May 15, 2013
Pros: discount, free lunch on most wednesdays, customers
Cons: short breaks, schedules, pay
A typical day at work for me is greeting customers, helping them look for items, and answering phone calls to assist with the customer needs, developing photos and printing them in a timely manner. Also stocking items, making sure my work environment is clean and neat. I learned that customers always come first, always have a smile on your face and – more... treat every customer the same even when you or he/she have a bad day, and never bring your home to work learn how to separate the two. I love my co-workers they are always willing to help and they make it easier to work. they are so friendly and kind, it really is a team environment. The hardest part of my job would be following the tracts of the previous employee when things are not done on time I'm rushing to get it done, but i manage to complete it. The one thing i enjoy about CVS is the customers, getting a chance to meet different people and working with people who really care about you. – less
