Unproductive, Unrewarding, High Stress - Terrible Employer
Strategic Sourcing Buyer (Former Employee), Piedmont, SCMay 21, 2014
Pros: experience in aerospace and chemicals, to be used when you go to a better employer
Cons: it begins on day 1 and continues down hill from there. terrible culture, terrible hr, horrible hours, no loyality
The company has transitioned from nearly $5B Company to a $1.8B Company within the last three (3) years. It shed the Specialty Chemicals division with was consistently profitable for investment into Automotive and greater stake in Aerospace. The divestiture enabled the company to further erode human assets and pile additional duties and responsibilities on an already skinny infrastructure.

In 2012 a significant portion of professional services was outsourced to the shared services group in Riga, Latvia. The group in Latvia has proven to be quite nimble and eager to assist however the transition pains continue to persist whether it is with AP and paying vendors or in dealing with benefits to communication and confirmation of purchase orders.

Supply Chain organization is a hodgepodge of disconnect and misdirection. Executive leadership has committed $13M to ICG/Procurian/Accenture for procurement and has recognized very little in terms of ROI. That blundered has hastened additional trimming of staffing within Supply Chain. Couple this significantly poor investment with depreciation of Capital Projects being done in 2014 and you have an off balanced P&L and a leadership organization that simply knows how to cut head count and add workload to an already over worked and constrained organization.

Hands down this was the worst organization that I have been employed by in my 20 years of professional career. In between the 60 to 80 hour weeks and the lack of growth opportunity and a void of accountability by leadership, it was a welcome relief to finally be away from CYTEC.

The company – more... has also committed to transition to SAP within the year and have already had to drop back from that preposterous time-line half-dozen times. The implementation of SAP will be a very painful one for this Company as they have no idea how to implement and plan projects with synergies across sites.

Best recommendation, especially for the Cytec Carbon Fiber plant in Piedmont, utilize the time to build your experience and apply to TOREY when they complete the expansion of their Carbon Fiber facility in Spartanburg. – less

Union based company good benefits
Tower Inspector (Former Employee), Harve De Grace, MDJanuary 7, 2014
Pros: they have employee gym
Cons: breaks are a bit short
Cytec Industries is a union shop. Once your in the Union and your a productive employee your there for life! Co workers are a great bunch and are willing to help you learn. You have room for advancement in production and chemical operations. I was able to learn are great deal on how to mix chemical to make the required product.

A professional and exciting work environment
Strategic Communications (Former Employee), Anderlecht, BelgiumJuly 26, 2013
Pros: the products were great - boeing jets, ferrrari race cars
The company is on the cutting edge of technology and I believe this is only the beginning of the takeoff and rise of Cytec. Currently the number two carbon fiber composites supplier in the world, they are positioned to lead the development of new jets and performance vehicles into the next decade.

Decent pay for a terrible environment
Pre-preg Technician (Former Employee), Tulsa, OKJanuary 23, 2013
Pros: pay and benefits
Cons: rotating shifts, management issues, lack of respect towards employees
While the starting pay and benefits of the company are attractive, the rotation shifts, management issues, and lack of professionalism in the company makes it hard to get up and go to work in the morning.

Always messing with employees
Instrument/Electrical Technician (Current Employee), Willow Island, WVMarch 19, 2012
Cytec never seems to keep the status quot. Always lying to union members and can never do the same thing more than once.
