Student Tutor (Former Employee) –  Dalton, GAAugust 28, 2017
it is not a stressful job as a tutor; it takes a lot of knowledge to tutor someone in math or science. You also need to have good talking skills and a great amount of patience.
Cons
don't pay you enough

I worked at Dalton State as a student and loved the job. I am always looking for a job at the school and would love to return. The atmosphere is very relaxed. The staff treats everyone fairly and with respect.

Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) –  Dalton, GAJanuary 10, 2017
I worked for the Center of International Education,

It was a dynamic workplace that is perfect for self starters, minimum oversight that lets you familiarize with bureaucracy.
Pros
huge office at the entry level

Too large of a department to not train employees properly. Was thrown to the wolves pretty much but learned fast but still needed training.

Recieving Assistant (Former Employee) –  Dalton, GAMarch 30, 2015
A place of higher learning should aspire to think outside the box. However, this institution is crippled by self-serving, greedy, charlatans drunk with power. No matter how much you love your job at this institution you are nothing but an expendable number. That is unless you bow to those in management, no doubt placing lips to posterior.
Pros
Fresh enviroment, great scenery
Cons
Anyone involved with upper managment

WIA Assistant (Current Employee) –  Dalton, GAJanuary 22, 2015
Assisting individuals daily to enroll in an approved program through WIA while meeting all the qualifying factors. I had an amazing Supervisor that understood my abilities and wasn't a micro-manager. Telling individuals they don't qualify per the State of Ga guidelines is probably the most difficult task of my job. I enjoy immensely assisting individuals who are in need and looking to grow in a positive direction.
Pros
Accountable for my daily hours without punching a clock
Cons
Inconsistencies within the program

Testing Center Associate (Current Employee) –  Dalton, GAJanuary 20, 2015
Working at Dalton State College Testing Center will consist of many given tests each day. Throughout a typical day you will monitor many students while they take their exams. While working at this job you will learn many different types of tests, and the preparatory to each test before it is given. Its a pretty small area but that can be a good thing if you like only working with a handful of people. There can be some stressful points when working this job because you can have multiple students come in at the same time and you have to help students with their given questions, but to overcome that issue you just need to go in order how they came in and address each of them one at a time. The best part I love about this job is the people, with only a little number of people that work here you become really close with your staff members.

Good place to work...but poor pay
middle management (Current Employee) –  Dalton, GAMay 29, 2014
It's a Georgia state-run college so the pay is below average and raises are few...and far between. The place is like a big family and great to work at. The benefits are pretty good and there is a pension. Overall it a good place to work.
Pros
Good benefits
Cons
Wages are below average...and raises are almost non-existant.

The environment is great, but their hourly rate for student workers are absolutely horrid. Worked there for nearly three years and the hourly rate remains flabbergastingly the same.

Time away, more free time, respects students
