About Davenport Community Schools
We are once again implementing district-wide one-hour early dismissal every Wednesday during the school year. This early dismissal allows for collaborative time used by our teachers and building leadership to focus on effective teaching strategies, individual student progress, ways to create positive relationships and learning environments, and meaningful – more... work toward our goals of affecting student achievement. We are excited about the significant progress of our elementary schools in the areas of reading and math and the middle schools' implementation of Making Middle Grades Work. Special kudos goes to our students, staff, and parents for all of their work in these efforts.
Staff has been working during the summer on expanding our focus on improving middle grade education through the Making Middle Grades Work initiative. Our high school staff has also focused on the initiative of High Schools That Work. There is a lot of enthusiasm on the part of our principals and teachers on the effectiveness of these programs and we hope our parents will get involved in the process, as well.
