The David Thompson Health Region (DTHR) is partnering with The Lending Cupboard Society of Alberta to offer medical equipment lending services to Red Deer and central Alberta residents.
The DTHR has transferred its short-term-loan medical equipment inventory and services, currently offered at the Red Deer Bremner Avenue Community Health Centre, to – more... the Lending Cupboard.
"We are extremely pleased that the Lending Cupboard has stepped forward to offer this valuable service to Red Deer and area residents," said DTHR Community Care Director Sue Harcus.
"Residents will benefit from immediate access to medical equipment, round-the-clock service, longer equipment loans if needed, and a more central location," added Harcus.
The Lending Cupboard is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organization that loans medical equipment to residents for as long as they need it, at no cost, and with no qualifying criteria.
"Moving these services to the Lending Cupboard will free up DTHR professional staff so they can spend more time providing health-care services," said Harcus, "The Lending Cupboard will take on the responsibility of administering the loans along with cleaning and maintaining the equipment."
DTHR professional staff will continue to assess clients to determine their needs and refer them to local medical equipment providers including the Lending Cupboard.
"Our motto is free medical equipment as long as you need it," according to Lending Cupboard founder Jaqui Joys. "We lend out walkers, wheelchairs, hospital beds, bath chairs, commodes, and other types of equipment on a short- or long-term basis plus we offer a limited pick-up and delivery service."
The Lending Cupboard welcomes donations of cash and new or used medical equipment.
Residents are invited to call the Lending Cupboard at (403) 356-1678, to learn more about the organization, borrowing medical equipment, or how they can support the Lending Cupboard Society. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
