Davis Instruments is a world leader in automotive instruments, fleet management software, weather instruments and weather data management software. It is expanding aggressively into the world of SaaS, Software offered as a Service. The end to end service will encompass instruments, firmware, PC software and Cloud software. It is one of the first products in the automotive telemetry market with comprehensive SaaS features.

Davis Instruments is looking for a top notch Database architect. We need an expert who will design and develop the Database infrastructure for our high volume automotive and weather SaaS platforms. This position will report to Senior Director of Software Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop OLTP, OLAP and Data warehousing data models, DB schema and DB interface code for the high volume automotive and weather SaaS platforms.
Design for scalability, performance and reliability.
Help choose the right DB (SQL, No-SQL) technology for our application, data and growth.
Help application developers write efficient code to interface with the Database.
Juggle competing priorities, use excellent project management skills and complete projects on time.

Requirements:
BS or MS in Computer Science or related field.
8-10 years’ experience in relational Database systems. MySQL is a must.
Experience in No-SQL Database technology. Need to help us decide when to use SQL vs. No-SQL Databases.
5-10 years’ experience in designing and developing data models and DB schemas that scale and perform for large scale cloud applications. Five of those should be in high volume real-time transactional systems.
Experience with high volume OLTP, OLAP and Data warehousing.
Experience with query optimization and performance tuning.
Excellent experience developing on time and on budget. Excellent project management skills.
Strong analytical, problem solving, prioritization and decision making skills.
Possess positive attitude and thrive under constant challenges.
Good understanding of SDLC.
Be a team player and ability to work with people.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred:
Experience developing for Windows servers.
Experience with object oriented design and development techniques. PHP and Java knowledge is a plus.
Experience with agile software development is a plus.
