SUMMARY: Primary function is cost accounting. Functions as a business support liaison between the plant and financial management team. This position will be responsible for plant level costs and control including cost accounting, bill of material audits, and cost analysis. Supports month-end close and special projects as requested. Works closely with manufacturing team to understand issues and how they impact the financial results as well as educate/inform department(s) on cost drivers and variances.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
Functions within all policies, procedures, rules and regulations applicable to the organization.
Use knowledge of foundry operations and sound accounting practices to develop and enhance processes for identifying and capturing manufacturing costs from ongoing operations.
Coordinate physical inventory counts and update standard costs in the bill of materials
Analyze financial reports, including sales, bookings, inventory and related general ledger accounts on a daily, weekly, quarterly or annual basis as appropriate
Develop cost reporting standards for management
Work directly with and assist Managers in developing effective budgets that align with departmental and strategic forecasts and goals.
Perform variance analysis, explain differences and rectify when appropriate, between actual and standard manufacturing costs.
Maintain and update standard product costs and overhead application rates
Lead or assist in development of productivity analysis tools and reporting, including reporting on breakeven points and margins by products and accounts
Audits invoices against purchase orders, researches discrepancies, and enters for payment.
Assists with and completes other special projects as necessary and as assigned

a. Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or business-related field. 2+ years of Accounting experience. Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge.
b. General Skills
Ability to read and comprehend instructions. Ability to apply common sense and respond to instructions, both written or oral. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Strong written and communication skills required. Ability to collaborate with a multi-department team.

Maintains continuing education and other required staff development programs required by the company and/or departmental guidelines.
Able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of the position can be fully met. Be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability. Able to assume awkward positions (bending, stooping, squatting and reaching) on a frequent basis. Able to move/walk, push/pull carts, equipment, boxes, etc.) on a frequent basis.
The staff member must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the staff member works inside a controlled indoors environment but is often exposed to outdoor elements. Is subject to frequent interruptions. Is involved with supervisors, employees, visitors, regulatory agency personnel, etc.
Communicates effectively and appropriately. Gets along and cooperates with co-workers and appropriately interacts with others. Participates and functions as an effective member of the company.
Exchanges information concerning customers/staff members and the organization with others only on a "need to know" basis.
