DELCORA has invested more than $120 million in construction since beginning operation in the early 1970's.
Because of this carefully planned investment, we now have an extensive infrastructure throughout Delaware County. This well-maintained system enables us to meet or exceed all the water discharge quality mandates set by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the United States Environment Protection Agency.
Our commitment to quality wastewater management begins with our 9-member Board of Directors appointed by the Delaware County Council. The Municipal Authority itself is operated by an Executive Director and professional staff firmly committed to efficient, business-like performance. Our workforce of approximately 110 people is drawn from the local area. These dedicated individuals are committed to the health, well-being, and prosperity of Delaware County. In addition to our quality wastewater management, DELCORA demonstrates good corporate citizenship by enthusiastically supporting the United Way, Widener's "Project Prepare", and the University Mentoring Program. We also offer co-ops for area college students.
Everyone associated with DELCORA recognizes the importance of good stewardship of both the environment and the economic resources of our community.
For this reason, we are proactive in utilizing the latest, most effective methods for treating wastewater and solids. We also place a major emphasis on keeping our county-wide infrastructure up-to-date and in peak operating condition. This commitment to excellence requires an annual budget of over $29 million. Nevertheless, we expect our rates to remain stable for the foreseeable future. That's because cost containment - without sacrifice service or water quality - is at the very foundation of DELCORA's mission. – less–ZoomInfo
