Senior Consultant (Current Employee) – New York, NY – December 1, 2017
Your typical day at work can be determined by what project you are staffed on. As a consultant, you have very little say in what projects you'll be placed on. Some projects have barely any work where the team is spending most of their time doing nothing or personal things. On the other hand, there are projects that require the team to work consistently throughout the year for over 40 hours a week. Based on the project you get staffed on, the job satisfaction and work life fit will vary.
Most of the staff (Consultant and Senior Consultant) are comprised of Millennials, so if you are a Millennial yourself, it's not a bad place to start. The management (Managers and above) are obviously more experienced and from a different generation, so sometimes they have difficulty understanding your perspective and priorities.
Administrative Assistant, Deloitte Services LP (Current Employee) – Chicago, IL – November 30, 2017
Opportunity to get a merit raise is very limited. Get what you want upfront. You will have to like having a lot of partners on your desk. If you care about your partners (as I do) it can feel as if you are never quite doing as well by them as you would like.
Senior Manager - Global Employer Services (Former Employee) – San Diego, CA – November 28, 2017
Lack of support if leadership was not in San Diego. San Diego workplace was amazing but my leadership was based in San Jose and did not take interest in oversight if not in their office. Hours were beyond 40 plus hours
The pros about working in Deloitte is that you would be working on huge projects with lots og business aspects to it. Will be learning a lot from the business perspective but there is no work life balance at all. Will be spending more than 10 hours easily in the office
Senior Project Controller (Current Employee) – Atlanta, GA – November 26, 2017
Deloitte has high standards and pays well. The firm is always improving and in constant change which is good in some aspects but can wear out staff quickly. Work life balance can be a struggle depending on team and client you serve.
Senior Consultant (Current Employee) – New York, NY – November 25, 2017
Good for recent grads to gain experience and move on after a couple of years. The hours depend on the team you are a part of and the budget. In general higher the budget the better the hours. Lots of politics and favoritism among senior managers and partners
Desktop Support (Former Employee) – Radford, VA – November 22, 2017
When working for them it seemed like the management could care less about the individuals they had working for them as long as they were in their seats and could be billed for. This seems to have been fixed since that time though as many people are happy with the current situation.
Senior Associate (Former Employee) – Chicago, IL – November 19, 2017
Deloitte is a great place to start your career. You learn a lot at the onset, you have a clear path to promotion and you have the ability to interact with all levels of management, internally and externally. Big 4 accounting firms are very similar to college in the fact that popularity and attending social events are paramount to career advancement. In short, everyone that works for a Big 4 accounting firm is bright and can do the job. It's the soft skills and social skills that separate the high performers from the mediocre performers.
great exposure to clients and projects
compensation isn't commensurate with the hours you work
